Dear <<First Name>>,

Today I would like to celebrate some of the wonderful mistakes* I have made in the past by showing you some paintings I painted over.

(*Technically there are no "mistakes" as everything is a learning opportunity. I can't find another word at the moment though. What would you suggest?)
1. The Spirit Seeker (24" x 24") - I was focused on a tiny area in the centre of the canvas and I thought I would never get it right. A great reason to paint over the entire canvas, isn't it? :P
And this is how it looks today... Still working on it.
2. The Wind Spirits (30" x 24") - I painted this over because I thought nobody would resonate with it and it would never sell... Alrighty!
3. Bright Happy Chaos (18" x 24") - I didn't exactly paint it over but I might as well have -- I sold it for $100 USD. *chuckle*
Common to all of these pieces are the feelings of doubt and uncertainty, emotions I was once very familiar with as an artist. I'm very grateful to have largely moved past those feelings and I have never painted over another painting since then. Instead, I store them away and take my mind off them, trusting that at the right moment, they will come back to me. There were times when I revisited canvases from two years before and in those moments when the past connects with the present so perfectly, I feel that everything has happened magically at the right time. <3
By the way, I painted a plant pot this week using acrylic markers. It was so much fun! And you can totally do the same -- just grab something around you and draw something on it. It can be as simple as you make it and it might just make your day! :D
