The new year is in full gear at W.TEC and our upcoming activities offer so much opportunity for everyone to get involved with us. We, thus invite you to go through our newsletter to find out where you will like support us in making a difference ahead of the year. 
Support W.TEC's 2020 - Girls Fund Campaign
Yay! W.TEC is participating in the 2020 "Girl Fund Campaign" by GlobalGiving. The annual campaign solicits donations for organizations working to accelerate the equality of women around the world. W.TEC hereby calls on all her friends and supporters to help her raise much needed funding to host more girls for the She Creates Camps in Lagos, Anambra and Kwara States. 
You Are Invited to W.TEC SMWLagos 2020 Event
Our #SMWLagos2020 event, tagged " Women Build Technology Too" promises to be a highly impactful event. During the event, we shall thoughtfully examine the thesis, "more Nigerian female participation in ICT – especially in the age of #AI & Data Science – will lead to better quality & more inclusively-designed technologies".
W.TEC In South Africa
Our Executive Director, Oreoluwa Lesi  and Programs Manager, Folashade Braimoh recently visited South Africa on a study visit for our up coming program tagged Digital Generation Youth(DGY). W.TEC is one of the implementing partners for the global program which commenced in January.
W.TEC Marks Safer Internet Day in Kwara State 
W.TEC marked 2020 Safer Internet Day (SID) in Kwara State with participants of her after-school computer program for girls. The day-long event featured fun exercises on cyber security and workshops focusing on making participants appreciate being a civil citizen of the internet.

W.TEC Impact Figures for 2019 
We are excited to announce our impact figures for 2019. A total of 4,490 girls, teachers, officials and other stakeholders benefited directly from our programs. This brings us to a total reach of 31,651 women and girls since 2008. We shall be sharing with you a comprehensive report in subsequent publications.
 
Donate LAPTOPS to W.TEC
One of the major tools we use in training our women and girls is the laptop. The purchase and maintenance of this critical device is highly challenging to our limited earnings. We hereby call on well meaning Nigerians to donate laptops, to support our numerous training programs.

FG Warns Nigerians Against Using Windows 7  Operating System (OS)
In light with the official end of support for Windows 7 OS by Microsoft, the Federal Government has alerted Nigerians from using the operating software. This is because the OS will now be more vulnerable to malware virus which can be dangerous for sensitive online work like internet banking and major data servers.

Netflix Partners Samsung to Fight Competition
As the streaming battles heat up, Netflix is hoping a new partnership with Samsung will help it fend off rivals. At Samsung's Unpacked event recently, the mobile device maker announced a deal with Netflix that will bring to its Galaxy smartphones special bonus content associated with several Netflix original shows.

TLcom Capital to Invest $71M Africa Fund in 12 Startups from Nigeria, Kenya and SA
TLcom Capital, an Africa-focused Venture Capital firm, recently concluded plans to invest $71 million in 12 start-ups from Africa through its Tide Africa Fund over the next 18 months. According to Managing Partner at TLcom, Maurizio Caio, the firm is looking to invest in tech-enabled, revenue driven ventures in Africa from seed-stage to Series B.
