Hello <<First Name>>,

Congratulations on your acceptance to Concord Academy! As an alumnus, faculty member, coach, and administrator, I value how important relationships are at CA. Concord is a school where our people, values, and individual contributions define our community. We at CA believe that everyone plays a role in building an inclusive and equitable community; our hope is that everyone here feels supported by their community and confident that their contributions matter. And we know that sustaining this dynamic requires skills — tools to help us build connections across the differences in experience, identity, and perspective that make us such a vibrant community.

Concord Academy’s Community and Equity Office (known as “C&E”) works with students and adults alike to participate positively and fully in a multicultural community where every member is seen, supported, and respected. This is central to the opportunities and education afforded by CA, and it is a regular part of our conversations and practices.

We offer a broad range of programming to engage our students in developing the empathy, skills, and knowledge needed to engage positively in our diverse community. Recent assemblies have included:

In addition to assemblies, the C&E Office engages all students during times like orientation and class meetings, and it supports a wide range of affinity spaces and social justice groups. We support the elected student C&E co-heads in running Inclusion Council, which at times has had up to 100 people attending conversations around social justice. We also send students to regional and national conferences about identity, social justice, and activism.

We hope this sounds exciting to you. This is the ultimate love-of-learning experience: the opportunity to learn about yourself and the members of our community who will become your life-long friends. This kind of fluency in equity work, social justice, and identity-based learning, and openness to what is required to be a global citizen, this is what we aim for at CA.

We look forward to getting to know you and hope to welcome you to CA this fall!
Sincerely,
