Reel Life Film Club | Free Solo

Middle school and high school students can join us for pizza and a movie. We’ll be screening the documentary Free Solo. This documentary follows professional rock climber, Alex Honnold, as he attempts to be the first person to “free solo” climb (meaning with just his hands and feet and no cables) El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.

Movies That Matter Beacon: Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin

During his 60-year career as an activist, Rustin formulated many of the strategies that propelled the movement. But his open sexuality forced him to remain in the background. Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin combines rare archival footage with provocative interviews to illuminate the life and work of a forgotten prophet of social change. Free Admission.

Join us in cooperation with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York City, the Howland Playhouse Production of ‘Why The Child Is Cooking In The Polenta’, which has had successful runs in London, Zurich, Munich and Bucharest starring the extraordinarily talented Alibec, is based on the 1999 semi-autobiographical novel of the same name written by the acclaimed Romanian author, Aglaja Veteranyi.

Concert for Recovery

Following the recent loss of their 26-year-old son, Greyson, to opioid addiction, Phil and Mary Ciganer are reaching out to the community with the “Concert for Recovery,” featuring local and regional talent on Sunday, March 1, at 4 p.m. Donations are suggested, with proceeds benefiting Drug Crisis in Our Backyard, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families in the Hudson Valley who are struggling with addiction.
