VOTE!

As Unitarian Universalists we affirm and promote the use of the democratic process. The right to vote is an important, some might say sacred, responsibility. The South Carolina primary is this Saturday, Feb. 29th. Whoever your preferred candidate is, please go vote! (And maybe post a selfie with your "I Voted" sticker at the UUFB Beloved Community Forum!)

Blood Drive Volunteers Needed!

In order to set a date for the Red Cross blood drive, we need more volunteers.  The signup sheet is located on the counter to the left of the Fellowship Hall entry door.  You will not be contacted until we have a sufficient number of volunteers, at which time several dates will be studied and your availabiltiy will be determined.  If you have friends and neighbors who may be interested, please see if they'd like you to add them!

Discussion Group Meetings

The UUFB Discussion Group meets at 0900 on Sundays in the Fellowship Hall.  Topics are identified in advance, but the discussion gravitates to subjects with the most interest.  All members and guests are welcome to attend.

Sing!

Our UUFB Choir would like more members! We gather most Sundays at 9:00. All are welcome. Reading music is not a requirement. If you like to sing, you can make a positive  contribution. Please speak with Chris Raskind if you are interested.

Donations & pledge payments made easy!

Do you have a smart phone?  UUFB now has the ability to take donations using your Paypal account app!  Look for the signs posted in the Fellowship Hall and the Sanctuary for complete instructions.

Your help is needed!

UUFB held a very special event last October, the 20th anniversary of its founding.  There was a weekend of festivities enjoyed by many.

Some of you may remember that I announced that I would be putting together a photo album to commemorate this occasion.  I have received a few photos from members and mine are now ready.

However, before I put the album together, I wanted to check with you all to see if you have more photos that you are willing to contribute to the album.  If you are, please drop off printed copies in an envelope with my name on it to the fellowship office.  In the case of digital photos, please email them to me at gmdlilac5@gmail.com.  Please submit these by March 1.  I am really looking forward to sharing this album of memories with the congregation.

Blessings,
Grace M Drake

To Be Continued…
a column by Rev. Lori G. Hlaban

Dear Ones,

I know it seems like the month of February has lasted about a year. At least, it always seems so to me. Back in Wisconsin, it always seemed like the heaviest snows and grayest days were reserved for this month. Here in South Carolina, we’re having a lot of rain, and the days just seem to be dragging. I think what’s really going on is a desire for spring – even though we *know* that means everything will be decorated with yellow pollen for weeks.

One highlight from this month was the somewhat impromptu movie on Valentine’s Day, which drew over 40 people to UUFB, not all of them members. What I want to note here is that the idea to do this was brought to me on Tuesday – just three days before the day of the showing. We made sure there was nothing else on the calendar, and checked that the movie was covered by our video license. Then the members who had this great idea worked to pull together some word-of-mouth advertising, we put it in the newsletter, and a lot of people showed up! The lesson here is: We don’t always have to plan fun events months in advance.

St. Patrick’s Day is March 17th – and most of the Friday evenings in March are wide open on the UUFB calendar. Maybe YOU have a good idea for a fun event here at UUFB! Let me know!

    Blessings,
        Rev. Lori Hlaban
