Welcoming the stranger: working with global communities, locally.
"...when did we see you a stranger and welcome you in? Truly, i say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me." Matthew 25:38, 40
A Heartfelt Thanks!
Thank you to those of you who attended our Glocal Garden Fundraiser. We had a great time together, hearing first from Perry and Brenda Jansen, former Global workers to Malawi, and then watching the movie, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. What a beautiful movie of using your gifts and persevering to help those in your community. If you haven't watched it, it is available on Netflix. We also had some great craft items that were available for a donation. Thank you to Brian Phillips, Nancy Hook, Dick Knight, Linda Blamire and Richard Herdegen for making those available. We raised just over $2000 which covers 40 of the 53 garden plots. We would still like to see full coverage of the water needs, so if you didn't get a chance to come to the fundraiser, you can still give via the Donate to Glocal button below. In the scroll down menu, click on Glocal Gardens. I hope those of you who live in Boise will drop by the garden during the summer months to see the hardworking gardeners and their beautiful plots! God is so good in His constant provision for Glocal and the people we work with!
I wanted to remind those of you in Boise that there is a conference March 6 and 7 for those interested in outreach. One of the tracks will be for those working with people who have come as refugees.
March 6 - 5:30-6:30 Refugee 101 - Nick and Laura Armstrong
March 7 - 10:30-11:30 Refugees: Trauma Informed Workshop - Annaliese Jacobsson and Jenny Lundberg
March 7 - 12:30-1:30 Reaching the Unreached - James S.
March 7 - 1:45-2:45 Panel of Churches Hosting Refugee Congregations - Facilitated by Nick and Laura (3 Churches will be represented and talking about their journeys)

For those of you who want to brush up on being Trauma Informed, I would strongly suggest coming to the 10:30 workshop on Saturday morning. We have been wanting to do an update/refresher for those of you engaged with friends who most likely have a traumatic past. Please come, even if you can only make it to one of the workshops. For more information and to register for this free conference, go to https://www.tvmissionconf.com.

Help Needed
Friendship Partners: Please let us know if you are interested in partnering with a family who has come as a refugee. We are always excited when these partnerships happen.

Tutors - A mother of two is needing some Citizenship Tutoring. She lives in Meridian and does not drive.  There are booklets that help guide and direct how to study!
A woman tutor for English is needed for a woman who is in a wheel chair and home-bound.

Drivers for Thursday English:  I am still looking for a couple of  drivers for English Class for the Bench Area and East Boise. Being a driver entails picking the lady up around 9:40, bringing to Heritage Church for drop off and then picking up at 11:45 to take home.  A background check is required. We also need back up drivers if you are not able to drive every week.

Baby Showers: Current Needs for Baby Showers: Hostesses are needed for spring showers. Also Michelle is looking for donations of the following items: Hooded towels and bath sets (wash, lotion, diaper cream), wipes, gently used pack and plays, money to buy strollers and pack and plays. Please email Michelle at MichelleL@glocalboise.org.

Donations for the Glocal Shed:
Thank you for the many donations we have received already. But there more is still needed. If you are interested in donating to the Housing Shed Program, please click on the Donate to the Shed button below and it will take you to a Sign Up Genius with a list of needs. Once you have bought the donations, you can drop them off at Cole Community Church - 8775 Ustick Road. 83704.  Gently used items are acceptable for Kitchen, bathroom and bedding items. If you prefer to do cash donation, click on the Donate to Glocal and specify the area you want to donate to on the Memo: Shed donation, Baby Shower or general.
