That'll teach me not to proofread my emails! Thanks to those who did, please ignore my previous email today, this one should be all correct (famous last words...)

Here's a few updates - all about Kaibosh (including a change of time on the 10th), and the movie night, and an event in the International Festival that you might like to support. See you next Tuesday! (remember something for the raffle prize!)
KAIBOSH OPENING
Kāpiti Impact Hub, 6 Tongariro Street, Paraparaumu

Kaibosh Food Rescue are opening a new branch in Kāpiti, and have invited us to sing at their launch event. The time has changed again (these things happen!)

Tuesday 10th March 6.00pm
(warmup from 5.45 if you can)

The event starts at 6pm and is likely to be outside, weather permitting (they're planning to have a marquee). We will assemble & warmup from 5.45pm in the forecourt at the front of the building, but if you can't make that then meet us in the courtyard at the back where the event is taking place - we expect to be singing by 6.20pm! There will be some short speeches at 6pm and our singing will mark the end of formal proceedings - we're on as soon as the ribbon's been cut! After our sing we'll head on over to Raumati for choir practice (we should be fine for time but we'll have a relaxed start to the evening, so don't rush).

DISASTER KARAOKE

From choir members David & Deryn:

One of our daughters, Kate Walker, who teaches at Boise University in Idaho, has organised an event in the Performance Arcade on the waterfront near Te Papa. There is a 'Container Series' of events and Kate is organising a DISASTER KARAOKE. The publicity says 'Sing about disaster, nuclear, political apocalypse and imagined utopias!'

The times this week on Wednesday 26th to Saturday 1st March are as follows:

Wednesday 10-11 p.m.

Thursday 10-11 p.m.

Friday 6.30-8.30 p.m.

Saturday 4-6 p.m.

Sunday 10-11.30 p.m.

What you do is turn up to listen or preferably to do a song! You sign up to a song of your choice when you arrive. The playlist includes songs for instance by Adele, Bob Dylan, Barry McGuire, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, etc. etc. etc.

EVENTS CALENDAR
We're planning a varied calendar of special events for the choir in 2020, a mixture of social and performing activities. You don't have to participate in everything, and we know that for some people our weekly singing together is enough in itself. We will continue to ensure that our Tuesday evenings are a complete singing experience, regardless of whether you intend to perform at these events.

Tuesday 10th March 5.45pm - we've been invited to sing 3-4 songs at the opening of Kaibosh Kāpiti Food Rescue. Kāpiti Impact Hub, 6 Tongariro Street, Paraparaumu.

Thursday 12th March 6.30pm - Shoreline Cinema, Waikanae. Movie night out for singers, family & friends. Tickets on sale at choir practise or email kapiticommunitychoir@gmail.com

We'll be guest choir at the Gale Force Gospel concert in Wellington, performing a set of songs by ourselves and then some with GFG too.27th June (evening) -

*** If you hear of any local events that the choir could participate in, let a committee member know - we're keen to sing out in the community a bit more this year ***

PAY YOUR TERM FEES ONLINE

Its really helpful to those on the 'welcome table' if regular members can pay their subs online, especially at the beginning of the year when we're expecting to be welcoming new and returning singers too. We started doing this for the last term of 2019, and it was very successful - reducing the work for those 'on the door' on Tuesday evenings, and really showed your commitment to our developing community.
With our new system of paying subs, a term costs $50, or you can pay the 'casual rate' of $7 per night (cash on the door). You can decide at any point to pay online for the rest of the term and it will work out cheaper - just ask Marj or Kimra at the welcome table on a Tuesday.

A reminder also that for new people, their first night is free! So this is a good time to bring a friend along to give it a try. They just sign up at practise & we'll have their name badge ready the following week. They can pay casual rate from then on, or do an online payment for the remainder of the term - welcome table will have all the info.

For internet banking our account number is

please mark the transaction with your name for reference
