MK's Corner
Wow, what a month it's been. This year, we promised a return to our focus on training and education. Once again, Paul, with all his technical experience, took the lead in researching and implementing our new MK Quilts University site.
It has been very very well received. Of course, the site in it's infancy, will be populated with all my existing content and new courses and instruction I'm developing as we speak. Eventually we're planning that it will be a site for all things quilting. Content from us as well as other instructors and contributors. So much potential.
If it sounds too good to be true at our initial membership rate of $19.99/month, it just might be. It just might be going up in the very near future. Actually, that's pretty much a certainty so get in now at the ground floor level. As long as you maintain your registration, it will cost you no more than $19.99/month. If you drop and come back at a later date, well then we'll welcome you back at the going monthly rate.

It started out with a piecing class I did for my guild. I did well then. Who knows where I'll end up with all this but I'm loving what I'm doing right now.

We started offering charter memberships to our online MK Quilts University (MKQU) on February 10th. The Charter Membership is only $19.99 per month... less than $240 a year! You pay more than that for a single class or retreat. At MKQU, you get access to everything MK Quilts produces. All of MK's past videos, future classes, and live webinars. New content for non-longarmers. And detailed technical troubleshooting courses so that you can resolve the most difficult issues. Members also get exclusive access to a Facebook group for direct contact and support from MK and the growing MK Quilts team.
The cost of membership will be going up to $29.99 per month soon. You can lock in the lower $19.99 per month price by joining now.
We plan to post a class based on MK's live Pro-Stitcher training events that normally run $275 per person! You no longer have to travel to costly events to participate in these highly educational courses. This is also a way to offer support to those that may have acquired their system from other retailers, but have found the training and support lacking. We must give priority to our owners and members that support us.

Barely Used Avante with Pro-Stitcher

MK Quilts does not stand to make anything on this machine. This four-year-old Avante with Pro-Stitcher on a 12-foot Studio frame was never used due to medical issues that arose. This system is worth $13,000. Norm needs to sell it ASAP as well as a bunch of other sewing items before they move. With the addition of free motion and ruler work content from MK Quilts, we thought it was time to start offering the non-computerized stationary longarms. Anyone can sell you a machine, but the MK Quilts service, training and support will make a stunning difference. We also throw in some essential accessories to make sure you get started out right.
Most of you on this newsletter are already computerized longarmers. Please tell your friends. The Capri will be available for a test drive in the MK Quilts Palm Harbor Studio and available for a special reduced show price for a limited time.

Ellen takes a lot of initiative in the studio and has lots of great ideas. The upcoming Ruler of the Month Club, MK Quilts Style, is one of those scenarios.
We are currently taking signups for our club via the MK Quilts University as this will include custom training courses in addition to those provided by Handi Quilter.

Pricing Options:
- $20/month (6 recurring payments) for locals (pick up the ruler in Palm Harbor shop).
- $27/month (6 recurring payments) includes shipping. (We’ll ship you the ruler each month.)
For Club No. 6, HQ is planning a block of the month that will work in combination with the ruler of that month. Make a block each month, throw it up on your longarm and quilt it out using instructional videos by Handi Quilter. As well as videos by our very own Ellen. Links to HQ videos and Ellen’s video instructions will be listed under a special membership bundle on MK Quilts University.
Included with your monthly ruler will be fabric requirements, cutting instructions and piecing instructions for that month’s block. As mentioned, keep up monthly and quilt out your blocks as we go along. Or make 2 or 3 blocks each month. A couple to practice on and 1 to save for the end of the club period.
At the end of the 6 month club, there will be a separate Finishing School Instruction Sheet where you can put your blocks together into a small project and quilt the entire thing at that time, using all the instruction you have learned and practiced with over the club period. AND, members who have paid for all 6 months of the club, will get a bonus, free ruler, as a gift for completing the club.

Rulers being released on a monthly basis are being released with special discounted pricing to club members only. If you decide to wait for the ruler till the end of the club period, those rulers will be increased to MSRP pricing plus shipping at that time.

Come to Florida for Training
The MK Quilts studio in Florida has doubled in size with the new community meeting area. Open for public use by other groups, MK Quilts is already scheduling classes for both quilters/piecers and longarmers.

MK will create new content on her Infinity in the new space. MK'Forte and MK'mara are next door in the original studio.
|
|
|
|
The LED lighting dims so that Pro-Stitcher and other training can be given on the large television. MK vetoed the Tiki-bar... for now.
|

Small Group Pro-Stitcher Training
As part of the 'keep MK home more often' objective for 2020, MK will be offering regular small group Pro-Stitcher classes for 3 or fewer people. Two-day classes will be offered to new MK longarm customers, in studio, in lieu of a single day of training in their home. This will be focused newbie training that will be open to others when space is available. We want one person to a machine.
Out of town participants will to fly to Tampa or St. Petersburg airport. The shop is 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic. There are many hotels and dining options in the area. Not to mention golf courses, beaches, and amusement parks for those you may have to drag along.
Pro-Stitcher Sim Training Events
MK is also conducting her normal Pro-Stitcher two-day training events for up to 16 people at the studio. This is focused on Pro-Stitcher Simulation and conducted on your laptop. This content is good for the beginner, however, MK is working to provide pre-class content to make sure that people are up to a base level. Be sure to have your laptop checked out by Mr. MK if you are concerned.

Free Motion Quilting
Ellen Ault, our Studio Manager, is a talented free-motion longarmer. She will be teaching these skills at regular local classes in the studio. Check our website events calendar.
