This week
I'm washing my hands, eating at Chinese restaurants, and extending some extra kindness and tenderness to my friends who are Asian. Ignorance is epidemic.

I'm reading
The Weinstein verdict is radical. The parents of TikTok teens, and what happens when TikTok fame fades. The woman building wheelchair ramps for her town with Lego bricks. Should service robots have faces? What to make of Grimes? There's a tendency to tune out the people you're closest to. How quick-thinking astronomers avoided stamping the solar system with petty European rivalries. Academia is a pyramid scheme. Lauren Groff goes to apocalypse camp. An investor who predicted the 2008 crash thinks another financial disaster is coming. What happens when salaries become more transparent? On money dysmorphia. Finding solace in photobooks. Family heartache on the northern New York border, and the creatures that bore witness to it. A great interview with Samin Nosrat. Solo living as "cocooning." There's no such thing as free shipping.

Once again, if you're a paying member and not seeing pie here, please reply and let me know so I can get it fixed!

I’m looking & listening
A cartoon by Krish Raghav (a total stranger who was kind enough to show me around Beijing last year) about cooking under quarantine. Billie Eilish interviewed by a bot. The entries in the #iamAFRICA Short Film Competition. Michelle Buteau on MeToo jokes. And, questionably, Love Is Blind—to which we also devote today's episode of the podcast.

GIFspiration
YEAH
In case last week's gif was unclear... Am I voting for Elizabeth Warren in Tuesday's California primary?

I endorse
The NO BAN Act, aka the National Origin Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants Act. It's a bill that would repeal all versions of the Muslim ban, the refugee ban, and the asylum ban. It would change immigration law to prohibit discrimination based on religion. And it would limit the president's authority to issue future bans like the Muslim ban.
