February in Children's and Family Ministry
Dear Parents,

This Sunday, March 1st, 3rd graders and 4th graders who we missed last year will receive Bibles durning the worship service.  3rd graders will receive The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones.  While not meant to replace the Bible, the Jesus Storybook Bible is an excellent companion to a regular Bible.  Although it is aimed at kids, I enjoy reading the Storybook Bible as an adult!  It can be read easily and quickly and gives kids an excellent overview of the Bible as a whole and a theologically accurate picture of how the entire Bible points to Jesus.  I hope this is something you will enjoy reading together with your 3rd grader.  4th graders will receive the Deep Blue Bible.

Also, you kids may choose to bring home a decorated "Lenten fish" from the Presbyterian One Great Hour of Sharing Project.  This is yearly offering during Lent where families can "fill up their fish" with money to be donated to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and the Self-Development of People.  If you would like more information please visit https://specialofferings.pcusa.org/offering/oghs/

Finally, this Sunday is the first day of work for our Youth Director Kim Herbert.  Please make sure to welcome him and his wife Gabby to LFPPC.  We are so excited to have him join us here!

In Christ,

Andrea

Ministry highlights from February
  • Shrove Tuesday was so much fun!  Thank you to all the volunteers who came and cooked dinner, set-up and cleaned up this event.  A special thank you to Tony for washing lots of dishes!  We enjoyed excellent music from the Stumbling Fiddlers.  https://www.google.com/search?q=The+Stumbling+Fiddlers&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS851US851&oq=The+Stumbling+Fiddlers&aqs=chrome..69i57.5143j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  • MOPS had a great field trip to the Northshore Fire Department on February 18th.  We even got to see the Firefighters go off on a call.
  • Our Ash Wednesday service February 26th marked the beginning of the season of Lent, the 40 day period leading up to Easter.  Lent is a time of reflection on our limits as human beings.  "From dust we come and to dust we will return" (Genesis 3:19).
