Alumni Gatherings Postponed

Dear alumni and friends,

What a challenging time it is for our world!

It seems best now for everyone to be surrounded by family at home, in light of this rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus. While I won’t get to meet you face to face, know that you remain in my prayers. Many here at Dalat are praying for you, that the peace that passes all understanding guard you, allay any fears, and give you strength.

Perhaps we’ll have an opportunity later this year to gather together in person, share stories, and tell each other about how God has worked in our lives!

For His glory,

Cheryl Hall Franceschi
Director of Development

Dalat’s New Legacy Wall

On March 13, Dalat continued to celebrate and honor 90 years of God’s goodness by unveiling a new Legacy Wall. The wall showcases Dalat’s unique history, featuring key people, places, and events that are woven into our school’s story. We believe that documenting and sharing what came before helps current and future students understand the importance of preserving and learning from the past. If you visit Dalat, be sure to stop by the wall outside the Harbor Hall auditorium, second floor of the Harbor high school building.

Detailed and framed history vignettes now line the walls of Dalat’s conference room, along with a full collection of sealed and protected yearbooks. Various trophies, letters, journals, keepsakes and other items are also saved and on display, including Miss Ruth Weir’s personal Bible, gifted to Dalat for safekeeping.

1. Alumni attending the dedication include Karl Steinkamp, Brian Weidemann, Reuben Seevaratnam, Guy Maurin, Lisa Munson, Lori Carlblom, and Calah Carlblom Ronzheimer.
2. Nurse Jan Hogan’s history with the school spans a few decades.
3. Notable individuals in the history of the school.
4. Fun vintage alumni buttons!
5. Checking out the archives, which are stored in a conference room.
6. Guests reading snapshots of history.
7. Miss Ruth Wehr’s personal Bible, gifted to Dalat for safekeeping.
8. Framed vignettes in our Harbor Hall conference room.

Monthly Giving helps build the Missionary Kids Scholarship Fund

Are you a joiner? Want to simplify your giving to Dalat? Consider setting up a monthly donation through RCE International to support Dalat’s MK students. A growing group who believe deeply in Dalat’s work have committed to giving monthly.

Recurring contributions mean that Dalat’s commitment to quality Christian education continues, and more families can gain affordable Christian education for their children. Any size gift helps us build the Missionary Kids Scholarship Fund. By becoming a monthly donor, you help strengthen and stabilize our work in Penang…for the next 90 years!

It’s easy to sign up! Learn more by visiting our Monthly Giving Page.

Flashback: 2002

From the 2002 Reflector: Heading to Hillside for a midday snack on a Saturday afternoon, Rowan Mundhenk, Karyss Love, and Justin Ellison walk from the Loves’ house past the new cream-colored wall, electric moving gate, and campus sign. The large sign, donated by the senior class, included the word “international” for the first time and stood proud in the community.

Do you have a flashback photo you’d like to share? Send it our way and we’ll post it in the next newsletter.

What’s New With You?

Update your former classmates about the latest happenings in your life. A new job? Recently retired? Did you just get married? Have a baby? Made a major life change? Or maybe you just haven’t been in touch with fellow alumni in some time. We can help you reconnect!

In 3–4 sentences let us know how you are doing and if possible, send a current photo. Please include your full name (including your maiden name) and year of graduation. We will share your brief update on Dalat’s website.
