Metro21's Influence Spans the Globe

From hosting a World Economic Forum workshop to presenting at the Consumer Electronics Show, Metro21 is recognized world-wide as a key influencer in smart cities. Here's a highlight of what we've been up to lately...

Identifying Governance Gaps in IoT

 
In February, Carnegie Mellon University was one of only two organizations in the world that hosted a dynamic, half-day workshop on behalf of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The workshop, organized and facilitated by Metro21, informs a forthcoming WEF report that will identify and prioritize governance gaps in Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

Metro21's interactive kiosk, featuring Surtrac, is located in Pittsburgh International Airport in Concourse A near gate A10! This display showcases the partnership between Carnegie Mellon University and the City of Pittsburgh by highlighting the benefits of smart traffic signals.

Metro21 Lauded as a Trendsetter in
Disruptive Tech


At CES 2020, Metro21 was highlighted as a top smart cities leader in identifying the most disruptive tech trends for the next decade in an article by Smart Cities Dive; Metro21 Executive Director, Karen Lightman, also was featured on a smart infrastructure panel alongside public and private deployment partners. 

Smart Cities Need Smart Talent 

 

The Volcker Alliance announced the expansion of its signature Government-to-University Initiative (G2U) in Pittsburgh, tapping Metro21 to help convene government and university leaders in order to strengthen the talent pipeline and co-create research and project exchanges.
