Shalom, from Messiah Echad!

Due to current events, Messiah Echad is cancelling all conspiracy theories, fears of death, and media fueled hysteria. That means YES, we WILL be meeting this Shabbat, despite the Coronavirus. Plus, a report in the Babylon Bee revealed a way to prevent viruses from coming near us… as Texans, and Jewish people, this method should resonate deeply. But seriously, we encourage you to (1) stay healthy; God designed a healthy body to overcome many things. (2) Wash your hands with soap and water; hand sanitizer is diluted and minimally effective, like The Message translation. (3) Wear a mask if you are sick or concerned, and isolate yourself as needed, like Jesus did. And for now, (4) stop greeting each other with a “brotherly kiss”, hug, or handshake… it’s unsanitary (and sometimes creepy).

This weekend (14 March) we will have special guest worship leaders, and we will also have math tutors to speak with the shabbat school children. The last shabbat of the month (28 March) will be monthly oneg (potluck), when we encourage you to bring a biblically kosher dish to pass. Our calendar says Passover will begin Wednesday 08 April, so that is the evening we will host our corporate Seder, and information will be sent out soon. And finally, please continue to keep Rabbi Jonathan in prayer as he pursues political office. Yes, it is God who chooses leaders and as a 501(c)3 we would never endorse any candidate, but boy does the enemy come out with those hurtful allegations, dirty politics, and reminders of our past. Pray for perseverance.

It may be Friday the 13th and things might be getting cancelled because of Coronavirus, but God is still on the throne and it is okay to have some levity in your life. Shabbat Shalom,
