Resources for OST programs in the era of Covid-19

We know that OST /afterschool programs are critical to families and communities. This newsletter aims to provide a variety of resources, most of which are compiled by other youth-serving organizations to help you cope with the ever changing response to the Corona virus.

Some of you may have also received some of this information from the Center for Youth Development Professionals, and some of this is new as we get up to date information minute by minute.

Please feel free to share your ideas, policies and tools with us and we will get out to others. You are not in this alone!
What we are doing at Fab Youth Philly

As of yesterday afternoon, we have decided to reduce our time together in the office and only going in for programming three days per week -for as long as we can.  We will move meetings to online platforms until further notice. When we are meeting in person, we are following CDC recommendations including washing our hands, using hand sanitizer and regularly wiping down all surfaces.

Our Play Captains will continue to work at their respective early childhood centers as long as they stay open, and as long as there is no health risk to anyone by continuing to go.

Our Safety Captains will continue to meet in-person as long as it remains safe to do so and then may try remote work.

We have notified parents of our teen employees and working to stay in touch with all of our partners and adjusting as needed.

We are working to put together updated work-plans for all of our adult staff.

Some of the tools during this time we are using which you may find helpful include:
  • Dial My Calls- for group text messaging
  • Google -for collaborative planning and working
  • Zoom- staff can open FREE accounts to use for virtual/video meetings

What tools are you finding useful? We'd love to know.
