Coronavirus Precautions
and Church

Last Sunday we implemented several procedures and recommendations to reduce the risk of possible spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) when we gather at Church; such as: suspending communion; receiving the offering as worshippers exit rather than pass the plate; leaving the baptismal bowl empty.  We also encouraged washing of hands or use of hand sanitizers; refraining from handshakes and hugs; and isolating yourself if you are not feeling well.

Yesterday, March 11, the Sonoma County Health Officer, in an abundance of precaution to prevent the spread of the virus, advised “cancelling or postponing non-essential indoor gatherings of 50 people or more for older adults over the age of 60, and those with chronic medical conditions.” Thus far in Sonoma County, there have been no reported transmissions of the virus to date.

Our leadership is taking this recommendation seriously out of concern for those at risk, while at the same time wanting to provide for the spiritual health and vitality of our congregation which we regard as essential. Therefore, Session is meeting this evening to decide whether to hold worship on Sunday and whether to proceed with the Decade Mexico Mission Trip as planned which is scheduled to depart on Saturday.

We ask for your prayers as we discern the best way forward.  Tomorrow, we will post another email communicating our decision.
