Dancing on a tightrope as the sky flashes light and dark. Dancing through the apple trees of Avalon as we seek the Grail. Dancing on air as we seek balance. Dancing between the harsh gray of winter or blazing heat of summer toward the gentle colors of spring or autumn.
We all seek balance. The coming Vernal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the Autumnal Equinox in the Southern reminds us that we are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the ones who fulfill the promises of joy. We are the ones who know, deep within us, the mysteries of the Grail and the balance the Grail gives us.

Ostara, Hares, Cauldrons, and the Waning Moon
Ostara, a Celtic name for the Vernal Equinox, comes from Eostre, a fertility goddess, and is associated with her favorite animal, the hare. Eostre, the hare, and the egg became symbols of the rebirth of Mother Earth at spring in legends about her.
 Another part of the legend comes from Cerridwen, a Celtic mother goddess who brews knowledge in her cauldron of immortality. Things go awry, however, and the brew is drunk, not by her son as she intended, but by an innocent young man who eventually may become the Taliesen/Merlin of yet another legend. To complicate the intertwining of spring legends, it also is possible that the cauldron of Cerridwen becomes the grail of the Arthurian legend. We’ll talk so much more about all of this in my upcoming course!
The waning moon that goes dark on March 24 offers us an opportunity to reflect on letting go, letting die away, that which is not for our highest good as we make room in our lives for a rebirth of joy, celebration, and, of course, balance! |

Crystal Meditation for the Month: Anyolite
Anyolite is a combination of Zoisite, Ruby, and Corundum. Anyolite, according to Melody in her Love Is In the Earth encyclopedia, “increases awareness of one’s individuality while allowing one to also maintain  connectedness with humanity, furthering empathy on all levels (not sympathy).” In other words, Anyolite is the official stone of my Deb & Friends Quest for Connection podcast!
This stone acts as a connector also within your chakra system. It stimulates the connection among your root, heart, and crown chakras. It helps the root chakra to work toward feeling safe and secure, the heart chakra to experience love and offer forgiveness, and the crown chakra to connect to your spirituality and your Higher Self.
Anyolite helps you to see auric fields of both yourself and others by increasing your ability to see the color spectrum around the physical body. Psychic abilities are enhanced by connecting with the energy of Anyolite, and it is an excellent meditation stone when your goal is a deeply altered state of consciousness.
In short, Anyolite carries amazing properties, but the task of connecting with those properties resides within you and your willingness to delve deeply into a meditative state to work successfully with this lovely stone.
The specimen in the photo is one that has lived with me for a long time. The obelisk shape was once used as a way of marking time, and still today helps us connect to ancient cultures, particularly Egyptian and Ethiopian cultures. The obelisk shape also is used as a sort of a wand, directing the flow of energy where the holder intends it to go. So, sit with your stones, get to know them, and stay connected with them. Messages will come! |

A Balancing Act: The Chariot
The Chariot is one of the most symbol-laden keys in the whole Tarot, with representations of several cultures present on the key. So much is hidden in plain sight that I’ll have to explore The Chariot more than once in this newsletter.
 For this month, however, I focus your attention to the concept of balance. There are several over-arching themes in the whole Tarot deck, and finding and maintaining balance is one of them.
The black and white contrasting sphinx represent the outer reaches of the pillars of the Tree of Life, and a balance of nature and spirit. It is possible that each of them will pull the chariot in opposing directions, and so they must learn compromise and communion. The matching lunar crescents (maiden and mother lunar symbols), along with the eight-pointed star in the center of the charioteer’s diadem and the star-studded canopy, speak to a connection of balancing celestial energy.
Finally, often overlooked, is a Hindu symbol in the center of the chariot’s front beneath the wings of inspiration. It represents the union of positive and negative forces. Here, that means opposing energies, not denoting good or bad. There’s so much more richness on the Chariot key so stay tuned for another installment!!
