Hello friends,

We hope that this newsletter finds you healthy and well. We are busy here as always, laying down lots of whiskey and getting ready to head up to Mendocino to harvest Douglas fir for future batches of Terroir Gin. In the meantime, we wanted to keep you informed about our response to COVID-19 and share some other distillery news.

COVID-19 RESPONSE:
TASTING ROOM TEMPORARILY CLOSED

We have always endeavored to be community minded, and as public health concerns mount over the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have decided to temporarily close our tasting room to the public effective immediately. While nobody here at the distillery has been diagnosed with COVID-19, we have determined that a temporary, precautionary shutdown is a way for us to do our part in practicing social distancing, slowing the potential spread of this virus in our community, and helping to protect the most vulnerable among us.

We will be refunding any existing reservations for public tours and tastings on the books for the next two weeks as we evaluate the situation further, and will be in touch with updates when we have more news to share.

ANOTHER JAMES BEARD NOD FOR MASTER DISTILLER LANCE WINTERS

On a sunnier note… For the fifth year running, St. George master distiller Lance Winters has been named a James Beard Award semifinalist in the category of Outstanding Wine, Spirits, or Beer Producer! The list of semifinalists was announced on February 26, the day of Lance’s 24th anniversary here at St. George Spirits. The full list of 2020 semifinalists is here, and includes a stellar lineup of our industry friends, colleagues, and chefs whose restaurants we can’t ever seem to get reservations at. We are raising a glass to all our fellow nominees, and thank the Beard Foundation for bestowing this honor on Lance and the distillery once again.

RECENT PRESS

People have been saying some nice things about us lately—and most of it is true! Recent coverage includes our Baller Single Malt Whiskey in PUNCH, a Modern Bar Cart interview with Lance, and more. Catch up on these stories and other recent press here.

FEATURED COCKTAIL: CITRUS PARADISI

Our featured cocktail comes from Kellie Thorn, beverage director of the Hugh Acheson restaurant group in Georgia. We’ve long admired Kellie and were lucky enough to collaborate with her on a spirits dinner at Empire State South way back in 2012, which cemented our respect for her talents and commitment to her craft all the more. What it comes down to is that anything Kellie creates is something we want to try!

Kellie's Citrus Paradisi cocktail stars our All Purpose Vodka, citrus green tea, grapefruit, and tonic water, and is one of the featured recipes in this month’s Steeped in Vodka box from Shaker & Spoon (which also includes original recipes from Sother Teague and Tyler Hudgens). Get all three recipes plus everything you need to make them (other than our All Purpose Vodka—which you already have on-hand, right?) at shakerandspoon.com/stgeorge.
