Opportunities for the Week

An Important Message
regarding COVID-19 preparedness
We would like to take a moment to connect with everyone regarding the continuously evolving concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus and its effect on our community and congregation.  We take the health and safety of our members, friends and other groups very seriously.  Kane County does currently have two individuals who have contracted the virus, so - while we will continue to hold services - we will be implementing the following safety protocols immediately:
  • We will provide access to hand sanitizer in the sanctuary, Mayflower Room, kitchens, restrooms, nursery area and Fellowship Hall.  Additionally, we will provide disinfectant supplies throughout the church so that all common areas can be cleaned between meetings and other gatherings, and will ensure other users of the church facility follow the protocols that apply to them.
  • All restrooms will continue to be stocked with ample soap and disposable towels.
  • We will encourage people who are not feeling well to stay home and rest.
  • Ensure that individuals can safeguard their own health, well-being, and bodily integrity by waving, fist-bumping, elbow-bumping, or abstaining from physical gestures or touch without stigma during community greeting times.
  • We will conduct our closing benediction from the pews, rather than gathering in the aisle, so that people are not required to come in contact with others unnecessarily.
  • We will be providing communion for the next two to three months in individually sealed packages.
  • W request that those in the congregation, or those involved in the use of the building, notify the church if they or their family members are diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • We will stop serving homemade foods during coffee hour; instead serving prepackaged foods only, which have not been opened prior to the Sunday they are being served.
  • Rather than passing the offering plates, one plate will be placed at the back of the sanctuary by the entrance and one in the front on or by the altar. People will be invited to place their offerings in the plate as they arrive or leave.
  • Instead of passing the microphone during our Joys and Concerns time, the pastor (at the mic) will repeat the prayers spoken by each person to ensure that everyone can hear.

Hopefully these procedures will be sufficient to keep everyone safe and healthy until this virus has run its course, but we will continue to monitor the situation and make changes as necessary.  Please feel free to contact Pastor Becca or the church office if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Ruth Marsh Update...
While Ruth is still at Marianjoy, the staff there have asked that visitors be limited in light of the heightened risk to folks who are older or otherwise have health impairments.  As luck would have it, she should be heading home on Saturday though, where she can have visitors to her hearts content (provided you are feeling healthy).
The men’s group, Society of the Sons of God (SoSoGo), will have their next breakfast meeting on Saturday,  March 14, at 8:30am in Fellowship Hall.  The men's group generally gets together monthly for fellowship, food and light chores (because there's always something to do lately)  Anyone is welcome!
PRAYER REQUESTS...
Please keep John Connolly and his family in your prayers over the next few weeks.  He lost his sister Carol recently, after a long struggle with cancer.  It is never easy to lose a sibling, and John has lost two in the last year.
Our Survey of the Bible Class meets monthly, on the third Sunday. Our next class is this Sunday, March 15th.  As always, the class runs from 11:30am until 12:30pm, in the nursery area.  Becca will be discussing the book of Exodus.  Notes from the last class (1-19-20) are available here.
Our Missions food drive is wrapping up.  All food donations should be brought into the church by Sunday, March 22.  If you aren't able to bring your items down to church, please contact Lynnly and she will arrange to pick everything up.  Thanks in advance for helping out with this important collection to benefit the families of Tri-City Family Services!
