Postponement of Spring 2020 Events

About Us
The UNC Center for Media Law and Policy is an interdisciplinary research center run jointly out of the UNC School of Law and UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.  The Center serves as a forum for study and debate about the broad array of media law and policy issues facing North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The Center’s work ranges from the legal and policy issues affecting traditional media organizations to the challenges posed by new communication technologies, including social media, the Internet, and mobile technology, and the impact they are having on governments, on the economy, and on cultural and social values throughout the world.

Dear friends,
As you may have heard, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has suspended classes and public events for the foreseeable future in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that we will need to cancel the Center's remaining events this spring, including our interdisciplinary lunch on March 27 and the Wade H. Hargrove Media Law and Policy Colloquium featuring Richard Gingras, vice president of news at Google, which was scheduled for April 1.  We hope to be able to reschedule both of these events in the fall.  Please keep an eye out for updates!

The safety and health of our students, staff, and community are our highest priority, and we will look for creative ways to continue to engage with you during this time when in-person events will be scaled back.

Best regards,
David Ardia and Tori Ekstrand
