Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the first term draws to a close, I would like to thank all our parents for the support and cooperation in ensuring that our girls continue to thrive.  I realize that our success as a school is to a large degree the result of collaborative efforts of our parents and the school. Therefore, we need to build a sense of community in the classroom, in the school and with our families.

Charity drives … a huge success.
We have to instill in our children a sense of caring and empathy by embarking on charity drives. It is essential that in this materialistic world we help to inculcate in our children values and attitudes of caring and empathy. A huge thank you to our parents for your generous contributions towards our Lent drive. The shoes collected on Barefoot Day will be donated to children and adults in Villiersdorp, the Emasithandane Children’s Home, God’s Grace Children’s Home, Ekukhanyeni and Fikelela Children’s Centre.
Staff News
We are very grateful to Ms Lanesse Collins who substituted for Mrs Andie Larsen, our Grade 000 teacher who was away on maternity leave this term. Ms Collin’s last day at school is 20 March. I would like to thank her for her contributions to the school and wish her well in her future endeavors.

We are excited to welcome back Mrs Andie Larsen who joins us at the start of next term.

Parent Feedback
Our parent feedback meetings take place on 16, 17, 18, and 19 March. If you have not yet made an appointment to see your child’s class teacher, please do so urgently.

There will be no Clubs on 19 March due to parent meetings.
Last day of Term 1 is 20 March. School closes at 10h00.  Aftercare closes at 14h00.

As the holidays approach, it brings with it family and fun, but also a lot of idle time for the children.  In the fast-paced world that we live in, we don’t find time to spend quality time with our children. Make some effort to spend some time with your children this holiday. We often tell our children that we are too busy to play with them. So take some time during the holidays to connect with your daughter. Play any game that will awaken her imagination and curiosity, let her be actively engaged and creative. Do craft activities, construction games, pretend play, read books and bake together. Have fun!

Grade R

The Grade R girls had a JOLLY good time learning about the letter j! From designing jazzy jeans to doing estimating and pattern work with jelly beans. We discovered that jelly dissolves and channeled our inner scientists to predict and test what else dissolves and what doesn’t. Not to mention we got to eat the jelly we made together! Learning is the best!

Grade 00

Over the past two weeks, the Squirrel Nutkins and the Tom Kittens have been learning about colours and numbers. The girls have done experiments with colour mixing and absorption using different textures. They’ve had so much fun with these activities.

The focus on numbers has been carried into the garden using obstacle courses, mud play and hopscotch. Counting and threading beads, making play-dough numbers, as well as number matching has happened in the classroom.

Grade 000

Grade 000 are settling well into their new school routines. We have fun in our morning rings learning rhymes and songs.
We are enjoying using the gardens and are developing our gross-motor development through exploration and fun activities. In the classroom we have been doing various art activities to help develop our fine-motor skills.
