Dear Grantee,

During this time of uncertainty and isolation with the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are deeply concerned about how this will impact the most vulnerable in our community.

Our community has always been committed to coming together in supporting each other during times of crisis and ensuring those who struggle financially and economically are supported in every way possible.

We recognize that you are working expeditiously with your team to ensure the well-being of your staff and the community members you support. Please note the following:
  • We are supportive of your organization using any grant dollars we have provided to you previously for the greatest need in your organization. These are unpredictable times during a community crisis and we trust you to make the best judgment for your organization in addressing our community's most pressing needs.

  • If you have a current grant application open with us, we will be in touch with further instruction. Please put on hold any recent requests from KZCF to submit final grant reports to the Community Foundation.

  • We are suspending interim and final report deadlines until further notice.
SUPPORT FOR EMERGING NEEDS
Local funders are actively coordinating to raise local resources. We have partnered with United Way to activate our respective community crisis relief funds (United Way's Disaster Relief Fund and KZCF's Community Urgent Relief Fund) to address the gaps that are surfacing in key services for our most vulnerable community members.

We encourage you to join the Kalamazoo County Response Consortium (KCRC) coordinated by Gryphon Place. Adam Castle, Community Resilience Program Manager at Gryphon Place, will be convening weekly calls that will allow the full nonprofit sector to collaborate, problem solve, and collectively identify needs as they emerge. Further information about accessing local funds will be shared during these calls.

Funders with available emergency funds are working to create a simple and unified ‘application’ process by which we can coordinate and expedite the distribution of funds.

The next meeting is on Monday, March 16 at 10am. Meetings will occur each Monday at this time.

We know that you, our nonprofit partners have been working on these very issues in ensuring the greatest needs of the community are being met especially in a critical and unpredictable crisis.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns. Our staff may be working remotely but will remain as responsive as possible.
