Dear Watershed Neighbor,

We have a lot of great things to share!

First and foremost, we'd like to invite you to join us for our 11th Annual Watershed Wide Event! This Saturday, March 14th, we'll gather outside at Riverdale High School for breakfast snacks, coffee, and celebration before splitting up across various restoration sites. This is our biggest volunteer day in the watershed, and we hope you can be a part of it! Click here to read more details and to register. You can also help share the event with your networks via the event on Facebook, and our flyer is below!

We invite you to check out our 2018-2019 Year in Review. Fiscal years, and therefore projects and programs, tend to follow a July 1 - June 30 timeline; this report shares outcomes, organizational updates, and has plenty of photos to enjoy, too!

It's busy out in the field at our restoration sites - our project areas along Nettle Creek and at the Lake Oswego United Church of Christ were both planted last week by Mosaic Ecology and Sound Native Plants, respectively. The bare root plants will be doing a lot of underground root growth this year as they establish in their new homes.

We've had a busy February/early March with several Watershed 101 Workshops! First up was our time at PCC Sylvania. We presented our Watershed 101 Workshop to Professor April Ann Fong's Sustainability class, and the next day held a work party and installed nearly 100 native plants from Bosky Dell Natives! (Blog post here) Last week, we welcomed a group from Vanderbilt Alternative Spring Break and led them on a guided educational hike before an afternoon work party at one of our Watershed Wide Event sites. Watershed 101 with Vanderbilt ASB

We were excited to work with a group of students from Vanderbilt Alternative Spring Break. Our recap shares some favorite moments with the students, what we shared on our hike with them, and how their hard work improved the watershed. Click here to read our full blog post, written by Alexis to share about the day!

Planting with PCC Sylvania

Following an in-class presentation, we enjoyed working with a strong crowd of volunteers to plant nearly 100 native plants at PCC Sylvania on a very soggy day. Click here to see more photos, and read about our presentation and the day-of work party!

Boones Ferry Culvert Project Update

From the Bureau of Environmental Services: SW Boones Ferry Bridge & Restoration Project Update: February 20, 2020

"SW BOONES FERRY ROAD CLOSING ON MARCH 30, 2020. Starting March 30, 2020 and lasting for up to seven months, SW Boones Ferry Road will be completely closed from SW Arnold to SW Comus Court.

City of Portland Environmental Services—your sewer and stormwater utility—is beginning construction of a new bridge on SW Boones Ferry Road where it crosses Tryon Creek. The new bridge will improve water flows by replacing an existing small culvert. This culvert cannot handle large flows of water during storms, and it blocks fish and wildlife. The SW Boones Ferry Bridge & Restoration Project will create and restore important connections for fish, wildlife, and people. It will connect trails and pedestrian facilities in the area, help reduce flooding risk, and restore important habitat."
