Hi there,

Hope you’ve had a good start to the week!

We have had a very eventful month at Hasura, packed with product updates and company announcements. We announced our Series A! Organized Asia’s largest GraphQL conference, GraphQL Asia! Hasura Actions and Remote Joins are here as a part of our beta releases!

Lets dive right in.

💵Series A Fundraise

We recently annouced our series A fundraise of USD 9.9 million. You can read more about what we plan to do with these funds in Tanmai’s blogspot here.

Our announcement was also covered by Techcrunch 😃

🗞️ Product Updates

Hasura 1.2.0 beta is out! Here are some of the highlights from our last few releases:

Big New Features
  • Introducing Hasura Actions: Actions are a way to extend Hasura’s auto-generated mutations with entirely custom mutations and custom business logic. Actions can be added to Hasura to handle various use cases such as data validation, data enrichment from external sources and any other complex business logic. You can try it out here.
  • Hasura Remote joins: A few months ago we announced Remote Joins - a feature that will allow you to fetch related data that is in your database and in remote data sources with GraphQL. Remote Joins extends the concept of joining data across tables, to being able to join data across tables and remote data sources. Once you create relationships between types from your database and types created from APIs, you can then “join” them by running GraphQL queries. You can try it out here.
A few more interesting updates since our last release:

Server
  • Hasura now supports batching queries.
  • Logging has been improved - you can now log time spent consuming request bytes from socket & add request timings and count histograms to telemetry.
Console CLI You can read more about product updates and bug fixes in our release notes.

🚀Hasura for Teams & Enterprises

Hasura as a Data Access Layer

Hasura is increasingly being used by larger teams to API-fy data, as the central data access layer. Our larger customers tell us that using Hasura as the data layer lets them ship products faster and aids their digital transformation efforts by helping them move to cloud-native architectures.

Tanmai spoke about this in more detail at GraphQL Asia this year. You can watch the talk below ⤵️

API Management & Governance

API management and governance are a critical part of API adoption and delivery in any organization. At GraphQL Asia, Shahidh spoke about what this looks like for GraphQL APIs, and compares and contrast to REST solutions. Here’s a link to his talk.
