PPDC Visits The Capital Of Abia State

The PPDC team was in the capital of Abia state in the last week of February to strengthen their capacity to utilize the full potential of the Abia State Open Contracting Portal.

At the two day engagement, there was a technical training session on Open Contracting Data Standards for procurement officials. The session served as an opportunity to walk the participants through the use of the state’s open contracting portal which included training on Data entry and ways to interface with the portal. Civil Society Organizations were also trained on access to information, public procurement, data journalism, and project/ contract monitoring.

Private Sectors Looped in The Open Contracting Conversation

In order to understand the private sector processes, needs and use of contracting information, PPDC carried out a design research to reveal opportunities where NOCOPO the Bureau of Public Procurement’s open contracting portal can be adjusted and redesigned to better include the private sector. Based on this, a one day workshop was organized in Lagos by PPDC and Reboot with support from Open Contracting Partnership (OCP) and Open Society Foundations(OSF) in partnership with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

The workshop which was aimed at increasing the Use of Open Contracting Data by Private Sector Stakeholders had in attendance members of the private sector which include technology organizations as well as private sector bodies that produce goods, works, and services that have a background in public contracting.
