Meet our 7 AWESOME volunteers for Grounds Keepers 2020!
At Leadership Academy, we strongly believe that small actions, even those made by small people, can make a big difference. That is the inspiration behind our 2020 Grounds Keepers campaign. With the help of our volunteers, we are striving to help our planet become a better place. It is our pleasure to introduce you to our 7 awesome Grounds Keepers. These 7 volunteers have committed to improving our planet by “leaving it better”. As a Grounds Keeper, they will visit a park, trail, lake, river or waterway once a month and strive to improve the area by picking up trash.

For more information on this project, please read our blog post.

Here is some more information about each of our Grounds Keepers and their motivation for joining this incredible cause.

Meet Our 2020 Grounds Keepers!

EASOM

Easom is known at camp for having a plethora of knowledge about nature and the outdoors. His whole family are passionate about being outdoors and appreciating nature. During his time at Camp Warner Park, Easom has been regularly commended for practices of “Leave No Trace” and encouraging others to do so. He continues this throughout the year with his friends. He recently went to Steeplechase with his friends to play hide and seek. While he was there he picked up a whole bag of trash! Way to go Easom!

Asher

ASHER

As one of our younger Grounds Keepers, we are thrilled that Asher is already volunteering to make a difference through helping our planet. Asher enthusiastically loves to be outside. He always wants to be outside no matter the weather. Along with his family, Asher loves to bike, camp, hike, swim and play outdoor sports. They find themselves picking up trash wherever they go.

DIEM

Diem is a long-standing camper and has been to our Camp Warner Park, Nashville Sail Camp, and our Mountain Bike camp. She has a great appreciation for nature and the outdoors. Here is her motivation for joining the program

“My family loves to be in the outdoors and it makes me sad to see people littering the parks. I’m happy to do whatever I can to help out and it will be motivation for our family to get to parks often.”

Braddock

BRADDOCK

Braddock is a keen lover of the outdoors but has a special fondness of BUGS! It is known that there is a rapid decline of bugs on our planet. This is due to a plethora of reasons but Braddock wants to help them by keeping their natural habitats clean and litter-free. By eliminating micro-plastics that the bugs might eat, this will also help the animals that eat the bugs and subsequently ingest the plastic too.

Flannery

FLANNERY

Flannery is an avid lover of the outdoors. Her whole family take frequent hikes in the Nashville area and have a great appreciation for nature. Flannery says her motivation for joining this program is
“I love animals and trees and taking care of the earth.”

Noam

NOAM

Noam had a wonderful experience with Camp Warner Park and Camp Bells Bend Beaman this summer. It really lit a fuse for him in appreciating the beauty and wonder of nature. Noam LOVES being outdoors and spending time in our city, state, and national parks. He takes the responsibility of "leave no trace" seriously, and wants to encourage others to do the same.

Jackson

JACKSON

Jackson is another of our long standing campers. He has been to most of our camps and it is clear to see his passion for being in nature and the importance of the outdoors to him.
Jackson has a love for animals and wants to keep the world a good place to live. His Mom Andrea works for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and is an environmental engineer. Together, they both try to keep the world a better place than how they found it.

We are so proud to have 7 campers that are making a commitment to take care of our planet and we are so excited to start this project. We look forward to following our Grounds Keepers along their journey through this program and encourage you to do so too. We will send updates and pictures of them on their journey.
