Good evening from a very rainy UK!

I've been a busy little bee, so I am going to jump right in and list the patterns I have shared on my blog since our last chat.

1.  Charlotte's Sunshine Baby (Free Pattern)

This pattern is a lovely mashup that marries my Large Charlotte Square with The Sunshine Baby Owl CAL by Vanessa Smith and a few extra rounds by the creator of this beauty:  Misty Babcock.  Misty made this baby blanket almost three years ago, and her Ravelry project page for it has a staggering number of likes.  Now the three of us are ever so pleased to announce that you can find the instructions for this baby blanket HERE on my blog.

2. Maricopa Sun (Free Pattern)

This square was designed by my very dear friend Carolyn Robinson King.  This is her very first design, and I love it!  I am so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone to write the pattern down so that we can share it with you.  I am also very proud and honoured to have played a part in helping her do so.

Carolyn designed this square in memory of her brother Gary, and the written-only version of the pattern on Ravelry lists the colours she used to celebrate his love of photography and the state of Arizona.  We have also shared a rainbow photo tutorial on my website HERE

3.  Sophie's Winter Dream (Free Pattern)

Since Jenny and I first released the pattern for Sophie's Dream, Jenny has been working on three more colourways for this pattern - one for each season.  It has been very hard not to share them as they tripped off her hook, but Scheepjes Whirls are just SO popular that every time we went to release a new colourway, we would invariably find out that one or more of the colours were out of stock.

Finally, all the colours for this colourway are available, and Wool Warehouse has kindly put together some kits for it.  You can find the kits HERE (includes printed instructions for turning 12 Sophie's Gardens into a Winter Dream).  You can also find the instructions for colours, order of creation, and layout HERE on my website.

4.  Celestial Mandala (Paid Pattern in YARN 9 Bookazine)

So... Last Summer, I spent three glorious/frustrating/amazing/enlightening months designing a 59-round mandala for the latest issue of the YARN Bookazines by Scheepjes.

Never having designed with Pineapple Stitch before, I was a little bit out of my depth when it came to figuring out the maths for creating a mandala of that size (86cm/33.9″ stretched/blocked) with such lacy stitches.

I get bored easily if I don't 'grow', and this mandala - even with, or especially with, all the VERY MANY times I had to frog during the design process - made my designer mind grow and my soul rejoice.

I am so very proud of how it turned out.  THIS!  This is the 'Look At What I Made' moment my website takes its name from.

If I had to list my patterns in order of 'most rewarding design', they would be:
  1. Sophie's Universe (everything Sophie-related, really)
  2. Charlotte (which I am STILL working on)
  3. This Mandala
You can read more about the Celestial Mandala (including where to buy YARN 9) HERE.

5. Some More Cruises

I don't know if you know this, but I went on my first ever cruise in February last year.  It was also the first time I visited Australia (very briefly) and New Zealand (where my beloved sister now lives).

It was the trip of a lifetime, being able to do something as amazing as that AND in the company of my mother and sister AND being able to meet the lovely Shelley Husband from Spincushions. (That's me and her in the photo above)

I shared many photos and stories when I released the two cruise patterns after the fact, so if you want to read more about it, you can find more information HERE:
I still cannot quite believe the luck that has befallen me, as I have been asked to teach on two more cruises:
  • Spain/Portugal - departing on the 28th of September 2020, joined by Tammy Canavan-Soldaat of Read Between The Lines fame
  • Australia Singapore - departing on the 12th of April 2021, joined by Tatsiana of Rozeta CAL fame

6. 12 Moments of Conscious Joy

To celebrate 2020, I am doing something that brings me active/conscious joy on the 20th of each month.  February's #202020 image was designed by Claire Norden.  You can find out what I did to celebrate joy in February (and what inspired Claire's image) HERE.

Have a fantastic week, full of unexpected kindnesses!

All my love!

Dedri
