Loppet Update

The 2020 Wetzin'kwa Loppet is happening this Saturday, March 14th. Please read this message for updates on open volunteer opportunities, registration information, and dog trail closures.

Help Needed!!!

There are a number of open loppet volunteer positions. Please help us wrap-up our 2019/2020 event calendar with a successful loppet by filling in these volunteer positions.

Race Help

Chief of Competition Jen Plummer is urgently looking for:
  • two groups of two people to run the remote aid stations (main broadway intersection and on pine creek trails)
  • 3 more timers
  • More stadium setup helpers
Sign up at https://volunteersignup.org/RM7XE or email Jen at race@bvnordic.ca

Kitchen Help

Kitchen coordinator Paula Bartemucci needs some company preparing and serving lunch to competitors, a very important job for a successful loppet and quite easy with enough helpers! The volunteer shifts are only 1-1.5 hours long.
Sign up here https://signup.com/go/pzpawuW or email Paula at paulabar@telus.net

Registration Deadline

Online registration closes at 11:59pm on Thursday, March 12th.
On Friday from 6-9 p.m. we are hosting a pasta potluck dinner and dessert auction fundraiser to support athletes going to nationals later in March. There will be in person loppet registration at this event for those of you who can't commit before the online registration deadline.

Dog Trail Closure

The 18km loppet course uses a significant amount of the dog trails, therefore for everyone's safety no dogs will be allowed on the dog trails for the duration of the loppet—10:30 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. Thank you for your understanding!
