Harvesting WA’s Agri-food Innovators

Exciting times as we launch our agri-food innovation program HARVEST!

Our 2020 cohort is made up of 12 innovative WA businesses who are solving a diverse mix of problems in the areas of agtech, foodtech, value-add food, logistics, sustainable farming practices, agri-tourism, and education.

At the launch, the participating businesses shared a snapshot of their technologies and talents to sponsors, HARVEST alumni, mentors, and industry stakeholders. Find out more about their innovations here:  https://bit.ly/3cRbroj

The program will focus on future technologies for agtech and food innovation, and feature highly interactive workshops, mentoring, industry panel discussions, agri-corporate speed dating, and industry field trips including a site visit with Airbus, bootcamp at Muresk Institute’s Smart Farm, and a wheatbelt field trip.

Sincere thanks to our major partner Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development (DPIRD) for their continuing support of the program.

The winner of Agristart’s free ticket to Evoke Ag conference in Melbourne, Mark Tucek from HortBiz:

“ I went into evokeAG with a specific interest in Native Australian Edibles. I met many interesting people from diverse backgrounds and resonated with Mike Lee the Co-founder and Co-CEO of Alpha Food Labs  presentation who spoke about innovative ways to grow ancient foods, inspiring me to continue working hard in my Tucker Bush project. It was a well run conference and I am grateful to the team at Agristart for the opportunity to attend.”

AgFunder have released their 2019 Agri-FoodTech Investing Report:
"Foodtech and agtech startups raised $19.8bn in venture funding across 1858 deals. Following on from a record-breaking 2018, that's a 4.8% decline year-over-year in dollar terms and 15% by number of deals. But there were some clear bright spots with a 1.3% increase in funding to startups operating upstream -- on the farm and in the supply chain -- as they raised $7.6bn, posting the highest levels of record during any H2 on record."
