Etowah Construction-Soft Skills Workshop Day

We recently had the opportunity to partner with CCSD faculty to host a career readiness workshop at Etowah High School. During the workshop we discussed the student's aptitudes, potential career matches, goal setting and problem solving. The students had the opportunity to hear real life examples in different career fields from some wonderful community partners!

A special thanks to each of the volunteers that shared their time and talents with the students. Volunteers included Dr. Amanda Ruiz, Nate Weathers, Joe Cianciolo, Ike Parks, Brett Pinckard, Jeremy Whitaker, Katie Bishop and Brandon Chester.

A HUGE Thank You to Austin Trammell with Ram Tool for providing lunch for the students and volunteers at the Etowah workshop!
One of the things we LOVE to do is connect people who want to serve with those that have a need. We recently had the opportunity to connect Cox Automotive's Guiding Coalition with Goshen New Beginnings.

The Guiding Coalition is made up of Cox Automotive employees that serve in numerous divisions from across the nation. They come together annually and brainstorm about new initiatives that support positive culture, improve efficiencies and drive the business forward. One of their goals is to do a project that supports and gives back to the community.

We were able to connect them with the Goshen New Beginnings program. The New Beginnings program is for youth aging out of the traditional foster system. They help individuals with housing, schooling, and life skills in order to help them transition into adult life successfully. One of the things Goshen shared with us was that many of these youth have nothing of their own when they arrive. They like to give each of them a welcome basket upon arrival which includes toiletries, bedding, an alarm clock, towel and washcloth.

The Guiding Coalition put together 46 of these welcome baskets. They even took the time to make sure that each basket had an encouraging note for the recipient!
Haiti Update: Progress being made in the Village of Masson!
Progress is being made on the dining hall in the village of Masson! Thanks to many of you we were able to donate funds to help build a much needed dining hall. These pictures show the progress that's being made despite the continued political unrest in the country. Special thanks to each of you that helped us raise funds for this project!
