Grow Ordinary Food in Extraordinary Ways!

This year, I am out and about with my new talk Grow Ordinary food in Extraordinary Ways. I am not talking about growing Luffa, Dahlia root or Sesame Seeds. I am talking about growing good old fashioned potatoes, strawberries and tomatoes. The image above was taken in my greenhouse just minutes after I planted my rain gutter strawberries. 6 Podcasts Up and Running Now!

Last week's podcast is all about - me. Oops - was that a mistake? No, we decided to introduce Donna to those who have not heard me on CBC radio or seen me on HGTV. And we also wanted to test equipment. With new microphones and headphones the sound should be consistently better (at least from my end) going forward.

To ask a garden question about the current or past episodes send an email  to askdonna@donnabalzer.com and we'll choose one question to answer on every podcast. If I get overwhelmed with questions we'll answer some of them right here in the newsletter!

To help me help you grow go online and subscribe, listen and leave a comment.  Listen and learn while you drive or garden this spring! In the future I have some amazing interviews with Dean, who grows strawberries in Root Pouch (fabric) containers and Khaled who grows in rain gutters in Montreal. So many fabulous ideas to share.

Emma Sells Seeds

So there was a rush to get my free seeds in February when I mentioned I was still eating  my Clare's Mystery Keeper tomatoes. Thanks to everyone who asked for seed - I sent out several packages. Now I found out my co-author Steven Biggs has big news. His daughter Emma - only 14 and author of  Gardening with Emma has seeds for sale. If you want to support this enterprising teenager (pictured below) check out her seed list HERE.

GARDENER'S GROW!

Thanks for subscribing to this newsletter and  to my new podcast. I am actively looking for a sponsor for the podcast so if you know a business who might be interested, let me know! It doesn't have to be a garden business because most people who live in houses garden!

PS The current Canadian House and Home Magazine has a Kindergarden article by me in the March issue. Check it out at a news stand near you.

This week's podcast is all about two self-described "Elderly Farmers". The episode is called "Tomato Farmers: Getting a Late Start." This couple retired not once but three times between them and then started growing organically certified tomatoes commercially! Listen HERE FOR THE LATEST PODCAST!
