Older women have built Generation Equality - and claim equality across generations!

Under the motto ‘I am Generation Equality’, this years’ International Women’s Day marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration on Women’s Rights and Platform of Action. Despite being a core principle of the European Union, equality between men and women is not yet a reality in Europe. With inequalities accumulating as women grow older. While the European Commission has just unveiled its EU Gender Equality Strategy for the next 5 years, we claim gender equality for ALL generations of women!

A new Roadmap for Combating Social Exclusion in Later Life 

Targeting policy makers at all levels, the 'Roadmap for Future Research and Policy Collaboration' was launched at a well-attended event in Brussels, marking the end of the four-year collaboration programme between 120 researchers and practitioners from 39 countries.

NGO representatives meet Commission Vice-President Jourová to strengthen cooperation 

Part of the Social Platform’s delegation, our Policy Director, Maciej Kucharczyk, met Věra Jourová, European Commission Vice-President for Values and Transparency on 31 January 2020. The objective of the meeting was to discuss Commission’s work priorities for 2020 and the long-term cooperation with civil society organisations. Read more

The AGE Spanish member organisation Unión Democrática de Pensionistas (UDP) is organizing throughout 2020 free, face-to-face training sessions for older people who are responsible for the day-to-day management of organisations or associations. Read more
Belgian resolution supports an international convention on the human rights of older persons 
How do we continue to fully guarantee human rights as people age? This question is currently before the Belgian federal parliament and backed up by AGE member organisation the Vlaamse Ouderenraad.

For three years, two young French filmmakers went on an 'Oldyssey' journey to meet older people throughout the world and give them a voice. They collected dozens of video testimonies on their passions, social engagement and role in society in European, African, American and Asian countries.
