PRAYER FOCUS
Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.             Max Lucado
Remember NOONTIDE PRAYER every day.

Prayer Points -  (compiled by Joy Butler)

1          Pray for the WCTU in our closest neighbour country - Papua New Guinea.  Pray for continued blessing on the enthusiastic women there - pray that they will not be hampered in their witness for temperance.

2          Pray for the WCTU work in Australia - that the temperance groups, sober societies and drug-free groups will support each other wherever possible and that the abstinence message will be strengthened.

3          Pray for the WCTU leaders throughout Australia and the world that they will know the path ahead and find new and willing workers to participate and grow the organisation.

4          Pray for the youth and children in your own sphere of influence that they will be open to Gods way and commit to a life of purity and freedom from the SAD (smoking, alcohol, drugs) poisons.

5          Pray that the coronavirus will be kept at bay in Australia and New Zealand and the Pacific and through all the worry of it, many will turn to God - for this is our bottom-line message for WCTU.

HISTORY

Eunice Eloisae Gibbs Allyn

Allyn was an American correspondent, author of poetry and prose, and songwriter. She wanted to become a teacher, but her mother dissuaded her so she remained at home, entering into society and writing in a quiet way

for the local papers while using various pen names in order to avoid displeasing one of her brothers.
She was born in Ohio in 1847 and graduated from high school with honours. Allyn was a prominent member of the Dubuque Ladies' Literary Union, and for eight years she served as president of the Dubuque WCTU. She inaugurated many reforms and educational movements, doing the work, not for notoriety, but prompted by her inborn desire to do something towards lifting up humanity. She died at her home in 1916, following a lengthy illness.
