The City of Harrisburg has announced that Artsfest 2020 will go virtual amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Bureau of Fire

The Bureau of Fire is excited to announce the recent addition of nine new members to PA-TF1.  Earlier this month, nine of our firefighters completed their Orientation training in Philadelphia to become an official member of Pennsylvania Task Force One.  PA-TF1 is part of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue system.  There are 28 teams across the nation that are specially trained and equipped to respond to Natural Disasters and Terroristic Events.  They will join the nine current Bureau members to raise our total to eighteen members.  We would like to congratulate them on their new opportunity.

We also have enrolled 10 new firefighter cadets to the HACC Fire Academy.  Upon successful completion of the Fire Academy, they will officially be sworn in as Harrisburg Firefighters.  We wish them good luck, as their journey has just began.

Geographic Information System (GIS) Maps

In an effort to improve community outreach and the dissemination of public documentation such as meeting agendas, to better connect the city’s residents to groups that represent their neighborhood, and to illustrate the evolution of Harrisburg’s neighborhoods over time, the City has developed an interactive GIS map of the various neighborhoods in the city. This map was developed from various records in the City’s files and thus the information may not be current or complete. The Planning Bureau is seeking to re-establish and formalize a list of the neighborhoods and active neighborhood associations within Harrisburg, as well as the contacts for those organizations.

The list below shows all the neighborhoods and neighborhood associations for which the Planning Bureau has contact information or has confirmed recent activity. The Planning Bureau is not looking to establish or assign a singular neighborhood association to each area of the city, but only to know which ones are out there and who their points of contact are and their contact information.
