How to excel at online church.

1.  Attend. Some may say “online church is not really church." However, as we are learning, the building is not church either. The word "church" is translated from the Greek word “Ecclesia” which simply means “people assembled." Now more than ever we need to assemble.  The church needs you, and you need the church.

2.  Make online church a priority. With multiple services and the ability to do church from home, its never been easier to attend church. It’s also never been easier to fall away.  Which will you do?

3.  Eliminate distractions. Set the time aside for the Lord and focus on the service.

4.  Sing, pray, and worship like nobody but God is watching!

5.  Participate. Here is how: check in on the chat when you arrive into the online service.  Just let us know who you are, where you are viewing from, and how many are with you.  During the service feel free to comment, ask questions, ask for prayer, or send some love with the heart button. The chat is what makes online church “live."

6.  Partake in communion: This is a great family activity and an important time of remembrance. Pre-packaged communion is available in the airlock to the Gate off of Third St.  The door is unlocked, simply stop by at your convenience and grab some communion elements. Alternatively, grab your own elements from what you have at home or bake your own communion bread with the kids.

7.  Grab your Bible.  Be in the Word during the teaching and take notes. This helps with active participation and engagement.

8. Participate in online “kids church” at your convenience. Resources are available for pre-K through high school at atlantachristianfamily.org

9. Turn off the TV and turn on RightNow Media. Visit atlantachristianfamily.org for details about this free Christian “Netflix” resource.

10. Invite your neighbors and friends to join you at church…virtually. People are seeking answers. Share the link on social media or via text: atlantachristianfamily.online.church
Zoom Etiquette

Zoom is all the rage now.  If you are not familiar, Zoom is an online video conferencing application that allows people to gather together.  ACC is now using Zoom for Wednesday evening prayer meetings.  The elders are also meeting over Zoom.  Small groups are also beginning to Zoom.
It’s great because its simple, safe in this season of physical distancing, and it works on many devices such as desktops, laptops, smart phones, iPads, and even flip phones.

Zoom can be awesome... BUT it can also be terrible.  Recently, I attended a meeting where someone was whistling the entire meeting as the host spoke because the host didn't know how to mute participants' mics.  There were also multiple dogs barking throughout the meeting. I wanted to scream..."MUTE!" It was terrible.

A few simple etiquette rules can go along way to keep Zoom meetings productive and pleasing.

  1. Mute yourself when not speaking. Sometimes there are background noises you may not even be aware of that the microphone is picking up.  Even these background noises can be a distraction.
  2. Unmute when speaking. It’s easy to forget to unmute and just start talking.  If you are on Zoom from a laptop computer, here is a power tip: press and hold the spacebar to unmute, when you release it will mute you again.  It acts like a press-to-talk switch on a microphone.
  3. Practice. Zoom is a free application and a great way to keep in touch with your family and friends, especially during COVID-19 season. With free Zoom you can have unlimited talk with up to three people; with more than three people you may be limited to forty minutes.
  4. Face the camera and place it at eye level. They say body language is seventy percent of communication. Be close enough to the camera.
  5. Its best not to be walking around going about your business while on Zoom. The constant motion can be distracting.  If you do need to move around, consider turning your video feed off.

Need help getting your small group on Zoom? Let us know, we would be happy to help.

Happy Zooming!
Please email your family photos to Nathan Soice (soice1977@gmail.com) to be included in the 2020 ACC Church Family Directory.  The directory will be distributed sometime in May when we return to regular worship services.
Prior to the "Stay at Home" order, Terry Brooks, Missions Ministry Team Leader, recently joined the elders at one of their monthly meetings to update them on what God is doing through ACC missions ministry.  The elders prayed over Terry and encouraged him on in the great work he is doing for ACC!

ACC elders are now practicing physical distancing (elders meeting online via Zoom) and working hard at leading during these challenging times!

Current Message Series Continues Online in April...

The average person speaks about 500 million words in their lifetime. That’s a lot of talking! Some words (like “I do”) are pretty momentous. Others (like “What’s on Facebook today?”), not so much. There are certain words that receive far more attention–a person’s final words. What a person says when they have only a few moments remaining says a lot about who they are.

In this message series, we’ll unpack the depth and practical application of some of the last things Jesus said before He died on the cross. By focusing on these famous last words, we learn a lot about who Jesus is and what He thinks is important.

April 5, "Triumph" (John 19:30) Blake Brunner preaching
April 12, "Reunion" (Luke 23:46) Resurrection Sunday

future sermon topics TBA...

Youth and Family Ministry News
Check out the summer camp schedule on the Little Galilee website!

Hey Everybody!

I am very excited to announce that the Atlanta Youth Ministry Instagram page is up and running!

@atlantayouthministries

This is important for a few reasons. First, the new Instagram page will be a major way we will be communicating in the future. Second, this will be a major way we are going to stay connected for as long as we can't meet due to the Corona Virus. I will be doing a series of devotionals and mini-sermons over the course of the quarantine that you will be able to follow and take part in! The devos will be as a story on Wednesdays and the mini-sermons will be posted every Sunday.

If you currently do not have an Instagram, the mini-sermons also be posted to this page so you will be able to keep up in that way.

Lastly, tell your friends! It would be super sick if this page could blow up and we could get some new faces to the ministry because of it! This is a very easy way for people to get in the front door so let's get hyped about it and make sure people know!
