Dear faculty colleagues,
Given the high number of requests we’ve gotten from faculty seeking help as they prepare for the possibility of needing to shift their courses online, the CTE and CIDL are offering additional drop-in sessions this week and next week (see the schedule below and the latest updates on scheduled sessions on the CTE website).
In the meantime, see our resources on Teaching Through Disruption to learn more about the technical and pedagogical options you have for teaching remotely.
Please remember that, while classes continue to meet on campus, there are small adjustments you can make to encourage students to take responsibility for their health and that of others:
-
If your classroom is equipped with a lecture capture camera, begin recording class sessions so students can access them outside of class. Some faculty in non-equipped rooms are having success using their laptops to make recordings; see suggestions for this process.
-
If absent students want the chance to listen in live, encourage them to buddy with a student attending class and be present virtually through Google Hangouts.
Thank you for your efforts during this uncertain time to keep our community, and the communities around us, safe and healthy.
Yours,
Stacy Grooters
Interim Director, Center for Teaching Excellence
