ATTN: All Cook County, IL High Schools

Last month, we launched our 2020 Student Leadership Series in Chicago. We reached over 2500 high school students representing five states. Now, we are seeking ten additional schools in Cook County to host an assembly at their respective school in March or April. Our focus is two-fold. One is to motivate students to stay in school, improve their academic performance, graduate and pursue some level of post-secondary education or training. Two is to enlist the students' help in educating their parents about the importance of responding to the Census.

All students must realize that every single one of them represents $1,400 per year in federal funds and $14,000 over 10 years. If you multiply that by the number of students we can motivate at your school, an estimated 1,000 students alone could account for $14 million over 10 years. When you multiply that amount by the average number of family members in each student's household, the total amount of revenue generated for schools, libraries, hospitals, police and fire protection, emergency care, infrastructure is over $1 billion!

We need to mobilize all students to assume leadership roles in encouraging their fellow students to also help educate their parents as well on the Census.
