National History Day in North Dakota Virtual Kickoff Event to be Held September 8
BISMARCK, N.D. – A free virtual kickoff event for National History Day in North Dakota is scheduled for Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. This event is for both new and veteran educators and parents to learn more about the program as well as the specific details for the 2022 contest. A twenty-minute presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the state coordinator. Topics addressed will include how to start a project, how to hold a school contest, and information about grants, special prizes, and other resources.
The theme for the 2022 contest is Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences. Eligible students in grades 6-12 are invited to participate in a series of contests at the local, state, and national levels. Working in groups or individually, students research historical topics and present them in one of five categories including: historical paper, exhibit, performance, documentary, or website.
The National History Day in North Dakota contest will be held in person at the Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck on Friday, April 29, 2022. For more information or to register for the kickoff, contact Dani Stuckle, education outreach coordinator, at dlstuckle@nd.gov or 701.328.2794.
