COVID-19 Update

As of this newsletter, Jams and event are still on until further notice.

Like any group that gathers nowadays, we have to ask at what point the risk of spreading COVID-19 is great enough that cancelling a jam session is the responsible thing to do. Avl Jam organizers have decided that we should cancel jams only if there are confirmed cases of community transmission in the area. North Carolina has had a handfull of cases and none in Western Carolina.

We'll continue to monitor, and update as the situation requires. As a few people have pointed out, while there are risks in social contact (and contact improv), there are important benefits, as well - positive connection can have a positive effect on health, for instance. We want to continue holding our regular Wednesday and Saturday jams as long as it's responsible to do so.

Of course, the emerging guidelines for taking care of yourself and others with the prospect of the coronavirus apply to us all. In particular:
  • If you're feeling sick, please do not attend!
  • Wear freshly clean clothes to the Jam!
  • Washing your hands before and after jams is mandatory!
  • Modulate your contact and engagement to your comfort level

Dance in good health!
With care,
Idelle, CJ, Patrick
