MSDW Author Update - March 2020

Hopefully you don't mind us reaching out since you have worked with our editorial team in the past to some degree. But if you'd prefer not to receive updates for MSDW authors in the future, please unsubscribe.

Hello All,

How else to begin this author update than with the obvious: Covid-19 and its impact on, well, everything. For those of us fortunate enough to work in the enterprise software industry, and maybe even from home offices, the impact of lock downs, quarantines, and travel restrictions may be limited so far, at least in our jobs. But if you are in a hot spot, or in a job or company already impacted, then the situation is even scarier and more urgent.

So, let's ask: how is Covid-19 impacting your organization, your customers, and your partners? And, to be more blunt: how might you be able to share your experiences in a way that would help others?

Some questions we have been thinking about related to the crisis include:

  • Is software helping your organization or your clients adapt?
  • Is it failing in ways that help you identify the most urgently needed capabilities?
  • How can organizations make a rapid remote work transition and keep Dynamics running smoothly
  • How are complex D365 implementations proceeding as the crisis unfolds?
  • Are there ways to optimize finances for tough times with Azure and Dynamics 365? To optimize supply chains? Customer relationships?

While the crisis around the virus is one way to approach content, the more typical approaches to educating and informing the community are still great options for those looking to write or present with MSDW. Here are some recent articles from expert contributors that resonated with our readers:

What else we're working on (and how you can participate)

Podcast schedule

The MSDW Podcast has had a great start to the year. And we welcome your help to keep it going! Perhaps the best thing about the podcast this year has been the diversity of topics. They include:
  • Innovators founding new Microsoft partner organizations based on new strategies
  • Discussions about the latest MS biz apps releases
  • Dynamics implementation best practices

More Azure coverage

MSDW's Azure coverage continues, and it is clear that more organizations are adopting a multi-pronged strategy to build up expertise across many Microsoft cloud services. We are approaching our coverage of the Azure ecosystem from several angles that you can participate in:
  • Business movers: What products and firms are betting on Azure tech as part of their strategy?
  • Technology best practices: Usage of different Azure services varies so widely, from very targeted IT tooling to broad frameworks that will redefine whole classifications of technology
  • Skills and professional development - how are people changing the course of their careers by developing new skills?

Webcasts and more

We are always planning new webcasts, but in the current environment we want to do even more - with your help. We're currently using GoToWebinar for our traditional webcast needs. But we are also seeing some interesting uses of Teams and other technologies. What is working for you, either as a presenter or an audience member? What would you like to present about? What would you like to learn about from others?

Be in touch!

This is a stressful, uncertain time. Let's keep in touch and share what we know as best we can. We appreciate your feedback and support.
