You can help become a part of the solution by supporting Fostering Our Future's mission to recruit, train, and support 100 new foster families, 100 family advocates, and 300 family support volunteers in Central Florida by 2023.
Join us to learn how we are working with the community to solve Central Florida's foster care crisis and how you can help us make a difference.
There are over 5,400 children in out-of-home care in Central Florida, 1,800 of which are in licensed Foster Care.
Since 2013, the total number of children in foster homes or housed with relatives has risen by 40% to more than 24,000.
2/3 of children in foster care change families, schools and/or communities 7 or more times.
The foster care system only has availability at any given time for 20% of the children who need a home.
Many foster children end up two years or more behind their peers in school due to the constant disruption to their living circumstances and the accompanying emotional upheaval.
The Keys to Foster Family Success
Fostering Our Future believes that ongoing tangible, biblical discipleship and emotional support are the keys to foster family success. When foster families are successful, children find healing, families are restored, and our community is renewed.
We work with local churches to establish the following:
Foster Care Support Teams
Trained volunteers who are assigned to a Foster Family.
Provide help including meals, babysitting, and transportation.
Annual Parenting and Family Seminars
Addressing the special needs faced by Foster Families.
Meets the foster care continuing education requirements for Central FL counties, Lead Agencies.
Ministry-held Events
Specifically for Foster Families and Foster Care Support Teams.
Invited to participate in all of Grace Landing's social events, family strengthening, and family support environments
During our Accelerator Event, you'll not only learn more about our mission to support foster children in Central Florida, but you'll also get to hear from our special guests; a local foster family who will be sharing the story of their incredible journey with fostering, the support they received from their church and community, and how the child they took into care is now happy and thriving. Their success story illustrates how Fostering Our Future is changing the way we care for families in our community.
