Updates to Campus and Course Schedules

Due to ongoing concerns with the COVID-19, WVU, along with WVU Tech has decided to make the following changes to the academic schedule:
  • Spring Break will be extended to include the week of March 23-27
  • Online courses course will resume as normal on March 23
  • All courses will be moved to online during the following two weeks (March 30-April 10)  Your academic departments will contact you as to how this transition will be made.

Registration for Next Semester is Almost Here!
Are You Ready to Meet with Your Advisor?
Here’s How to Prepare

Please follow the steps below

1. Check the Student Life Weekly Digest for when the schedule of classes will be open for viewing.

2. Look at your Degree Plan (Pattern Sheet) for the next semester's required/recommended courses in your major.

3. Check the Schedule of Classes* to see the times and availibilty of courses you wish to take. 

4. The Student Success Center recommends that you explore Schedule Builder.**

5. Make an advising appointment with your advisor and get registered as soon as possible -- classes close quickly.

*Go to your Portal to Schedule of Classes to Select Term to Fill in the information or just select campus to View class offerings and times.

** Although you will not be able to register until you meet with an advisor, the SSC would like you to start becoming familiar with the process.

Go to your Portal to STAR to Student Services and Housing to Registration to Schedule Builder to Select Campus to Select and add the courses you need to Generate Schedules to Find a schedule that works best for you to Send to Shopping Cart to To save your selections Click Save to Cart.
 
The Academic Awards committee is pleased to start accepting nominations for the First-Year Excellence and the Presidential Leadership Awards. 
 
The Presidential Leadership Award is awarded to one graduating student in each college (BHSS and COES) who demonstrates academic excellence and involvement on the campus and in the community.

The First-Year Excellence award is for one first-year student who shows academic promise as well as involvement on the campus and in the community.
 
Nominations are due by Noon on Friday, March 13, 2020.
You may self-nominate for an award.

Summer Employment Opportunity

The WVU Tech TRIO Upward Bound Program is looking for highly motivated college students to serve as Tutor Mentors for college-bound high school students from Fayette County.

This is a seven-week, live-on position on the WVU Tech campus. The TRIO UB Program will provide free housing and meals during the program for Tutor Mentors.

Salary: $1,800

Summer Program: June 7 - July 24, 2020

Updated University Policy on Animals on Campus

An important update has been made for the Animals on Campus policy for WVU Campuses.  Please see the policy here or FAQs.
Reminder: inclement weather policy
The following are a few reminders of how we handle delays and closures.  
  • Official notifications from the institution regarding cancellations or closures will be shared through the WVU Tech Alert system (text/email) and on wvutech.edu.
  • Closure information may be communicated by media outlets, but the official announcement will be those messages that are shared directly by the institution.
  • Supervisors are reminded to identify their essential personnel in anticipation of weather-related delays or closures. Please discuss questions with your supervisor.
  • Students and employees are encouraged to update their information and ensure it is correct. Students also have the option to add contact information for parents through their account. Faculty and staff are urged to register with WVU Alert or update their information if already registered.
2020-21 FAFSA Applications Now Available

Its that time of year again! 
 
The FAFSA Application for the School Year 2020-21 is now available.

Updated Student ID Policy

Please be aware, if requesting a new or replacement WVU Tech Student ID, you must have a photo ID to get the new card.  For more details about these policies, please click here.
University Police officers are patrolling the roads in and around campus for your safety. In addition to these enforcement efforts, University Police offers these tips to keep you safe as you travel about campus:


Pedestrian Safety Tips

·Cross at marked crosswalks and intersections and obey the signals.

·Be alert for moving vehicles and bicycles.

·Stay to the right and avoid walking in bike lanes.

·When there are no sidewalks, jog or walk facing traffic.

·Make eye contact with oncoming drivers and show your intention to cross.

·Don’t forget to look up from your phone.

·When walking at night, wear bright colors and stay in well-lit areas.

·Don’t step into traffic from behind an obstruction.

·Turn down the volume of your phone.

·Head up, phone down: hang up while walking.

·Don’t wear headphones or talk on the phone while crossing a street.

·Don’t walk and text.

·Never rely on a car to stop; expect it won’t.
