Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

Hi <<First Name>>,

I don't know about you, but this morning my inbox was been filled with updates relating to the coronavirus.

*My health insurance carrier is waiving all co-pays for virus testing as well as for telemedicine visits of any kind.
*My favorite hotel chain has eliminated all change fees and is offering full refunds on any reservation, even if the reservation is marked "non-cancellable" or "non-refundable."
*The car rental agency we often use when traveling has enhanced the techniques it uses to clean vehicles after each rental, "paying special attention to interior customer touch points such as seats, steering wheels, door handles and other hard surfaces."

It seems that everyone is closely monitoring the guidance of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control regarding the spread of the coronavirus in order to keep us all safe.

And while these measures are all designed to give us a sense of calm and peace and reassurance, I wanted to jump into your inbox today and remind you that true peace comes from above.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
~John 14:27

This scripture is Jesus speaking directly to us, reminding us of His gift of peace. Not the peace the world offers through reassuring emails, new cleaning techniques, and waived fees, but THE PEACE that only the Lord can give to calm our troubled hearts.

Isn't it wonderful to know that in the midst of news about limited travel options, suspended basketball games, plummeting stock markets and celebrity illnesses, that we can grab hold of the peace of our Heavenly Father! It might be more difficult to buy a roll of toilet paper, and it might feel frustrating to have our plans change due to cancelled events, but if we have Jesus as our Savior, we can say with surety, "It Is Well With My Soul" because "peace, like a river, attendeth my way."

I'd love to hear how you're handling the bombardment of news, the assurances of new and extra precautionary measures being taken, and the steps to take to help contain and reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Is your heart troubled? Or are you able to grab on to the peace Jesus offers?
