Dear Jones Family,

The COVID-19 outbreak has presented us with some real challenges as we work to protect our school family while striving to continue our students' education. I know many of you are struggling to understand the scope of all this, as well as how it may impact our school and families. CPS has provided us with directives and guidelines, which you have also received via email and through media announcements.  Please continue to watch for updates in the coming days and weeks.  

Following the directives we have received, there are a number of events between now and Spring Break which have to be cancelled and, we hope, rescheduled for later in the school year.  Among the activities cancelled so far are:

  • All athletic events and practices
  • All field trips and assemblies
  • All school trips through Spring Break
  • Spanish Honor Society Dance 3/13
  • Multicultural Mixer 3/19
  • Spanish Honor Society Induction 3/24
  • Spring Musical 3/26-28
  • Freshman Welcome 3/31 and 4/1 (a virtual alternative is being developed)
  • ALAS Fest 4/3

At this time, events scheduled for after Spring Break are on until we receive additional guidance from CPS.

While this is disappointing for all of us, it is necessary to help maintain the health and safety of our students and staff, as well as their families.
