Action Alert! Voice Your Opposition to SB 233
Ubuntu Village urges members of the Louisiana Senate Judiciary Committee to vote against SB 233, which would further penalize parents for their children's actions. Instead of adding additional punitive measures to laws that already disproportionately target poor and working-class black families, Ubuntu supports legislation that provides programming to prevent juvenile crime and develop meaningful rehabilitation after offenses have occurred.

The proposed measure does nothing to keep our community safer, but instead further stigmatizes and blames the most vulnerable members of our society who already face the enormous obstacles brought by poverty and racism. Read the full text of the bill here.

Please take a minute to write to the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee (listed here) and urge them to vote against SB 233.
