Spring Greetings from Block Parents!

It's not quite spring yet, but we wanted to connect with our Block Parent volunteers to share our latest updates and to let you know what we've been working on.

We would like to thank our Block Parents who have Re-Certified by submitting their updated Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC). Don't forget that if the sticker on your sign is 19 or older, you must apply for your free on-line PVSC. Email contact@blockparents.ca for more information.

We hope you enjoy this newsletter and all the good news we have to share!

Celebrating 40+ Years of Block Parent History in Waterloo Region!

Waterloo Regional Block Parents has been helping make our communities safe since 1977! Did you know that the first Chair Person, Linda Paupst, piloted the program way back in 1976, in the Forest Hill area of Kitchener?

To commemorate our history, we're creating fun #throwbackthursday posts on our social media platforms. Please like, share and retweet our posts to help celebrate 40+ years of Block Parents!

What Does Being a Block Parent
Mean to You?

Share your passion about why you continue to be a Block Parent in your community by emailing us a sentence or two or posting your testimonial on one of our social media platforms. Also, if you're comfortable, please take a photo with your family together with your sign, and email us at contact@blockparents.ca so that we can share it with our neighbours.

Help us to encourage more families to become Block Parents...
just like you!

We are Actively Recruiting More
Block Parents!

To recruit more Block Parent Volunteers, we have enhanced our Mission and Vision statements, and based on our new objectives, we're publishing ads, newspaper articles, social media posts, and making appearances on local radio. We are also continuing to partner and collaborate with other organizations like the Canadian Cancer Society, School Transportation Services WR, and Public Health WR, to bring the Walking School Bus, and a brand new pedestrian and road safety skills program called Sidewalk Smarts, to young students in our Region's schools.

Help us share the benefits of volunteering with the Block Parent Program by following, sharing, liking, and re-tweeting us on social media and by advocating for our programs; sharing our newsletters; and talking to your friends, family and neighbours about becoming Block Parent volunteers.

There's a New Volunteer on our
Board of Directors!

Please welcome our new Secretary, Tonya Redwood. Along with taking minutes at our meetings and keeping us on track, Tonya has been working hard to create all the cool posts you've been seeing on social media. Great job, Tonya!

Our Block Parent Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday April 28

Are you interested in finding out more about what your Board of Directors is doing to move Block Parents into the next decade? If so, you are welcome to come to our AGM and join the conversation.

If you want to get more involved with our organization, we are currently recruiting volunteers to help the Board of Directors meet our strategic objectives and grow our success.

Please send an email to let us know if you'd like to attend, we'd love to have you!

Volunteer Week is coming up from
April 19-25

The Block Parents Board of Directors wants to thank all of our volunteers—from the past, the present, and the future—for giving your time, commitment and volunteer spirit.

We are forever thankful!
