Ramadan is around the corner and we are busy getting ready. From organizing the taraweeh schedule to getting an Iftar committee assembled to planning educational programming, there is much to do and we invite all of you to jump in help out. There will be a Ramadan Committee meeting on March 29 at 2 pm in the mosque, please come sign up and join us. All the efforts we make will benefit our community, our mosque and ourselves personally. As we spoke about during some of our previous General Body Meetings, we will be working hard to decrease waste this Ramadan and we will be sure to update you on the details of our efforts as Ramadan approaches. The feedback and suggestions offered by many of you present at the General Body Meetings has been heard and incorporated into our plans and we are so appreciative of having the benefit of your input and wisdom as we try to do better and better for sake The Almighty Allah's pleasure.
I would like to bring your attention to a young lady from our community who is doing some amazing work to help an important cause. Mahwish Khan, a senior at Spackenkill High School, is participating in a program called Student of Year which helps students develop leadership, marketing and entrepreneurship skills over the course of a 7 week intensive by raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The student who raises the most money wins a scholarship. Let's join together as a community to help Mahwish succeed! Our young people are the voices that will shape the course of history and they need our shoulders to stand upon. Mahwish will be hosting an Art Auction and Show at Masjid Al Noor on March 14 at 7:30 pm. Come enjoy the art, share some laughs over dinner and support one of our own children in this important endeavor.
Jazakallah,
Pashmina Rashad
