Changemakers from around the world are ready to tackle the unfinished business of creating a gender-equal world, including through UN Women’s Generation Equality campaign, which is working to achieve gender equality in this generation.

Decision-makers should seize the #GenerationEquality spotlight to make bigger, bolder, and more accountable commitments towards advancing gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

New research by Equal Measures 2030 and the United Nations measures the world’s progress in achieving the Beijing Platform for Action. The synopsis? 25 years after “Women's rights are human rights,” progress towards gender equality has stalled in some areas... but opportunity remains.

EM2030: Bending the Curve Towards Gender Equality by 2030

This report analyzes five key gender equality targets: access to contraception, girls’ education, political leadership, workplace equality laws, and safety. The report found that more than a third of countries have been moving slowly — or even in the wrong direction — on at least four of these five issues over the past two decades.

But the report also offers reason for optimism. Research found that many countries have made rapid progress on the five issues studied.

UN WOMEN: Women’s Rights in Review 25 Years After Beijing

This report takes an integrated approach to reporting on progress, gaps, and challenges related to the advancement of gender equality and women’s rights.

Through an analysis of the largest stock-taking exercise on women’s rights ever undertaken, led by the UN Secretary-General, the report lays out important gains since the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action 25 years ago, and where the world falls short.

Deliver for Good Campaign

Deliver for Good is a global campaign that applies a gender lens to the Sustainable Development Goals and promotes 12 critical investments in girls and women to power progress for all. The Campaign's signature resources have just been updated with the latest and greatest evidence to help advocates make an even stronger case for investing in girls and women.

What is happening with CSW64?

You may have already heard that due to ongoing concerns regarding the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, the 64th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW64) will convene on Monday 9 March for a procedural meeting only. No general debate will take place, and all side events in conjunction with CSW64 have been cancelled. In line with this decision, and to protect the health of our fellow advocates and partners, Women Deliver has also cancelled all in-person CSW64 events.

Despite these changes, progress on gender equality cannot wait.

Our global community of partners, spanning sectors and geographies, will continue to convene through bilateral meetings, phone and Skype calls, webinars, and other digital activations to seize the spotlight on Generation Equality and build momentum for a gender-equal world.
