Happy Hour Wine Painting

I had taken a friend to the airport in the late afternoon one day and returned home around 5pm (or, more importantly, during happy hour)!  As is my afternoon routine, I got out my favorite hand painted wine glass and enjoyed a glass of wine!  It was too early to plop in front of the television and too late for my (so-called) reading/nap time, so I went into my craft space and decided to paint on a new 10x14 paper block by Stonehenge Agua Coldpress.  If you aren't familiar with what a block is, it is a pad of watercolor paper that is affixed on four or two sides so it doesn't warp while painting.  It eliminates the need to tape all four sides down.  Once the painting is finished, it easily lifts away from the light adhesive that was holding it in place.

Much to my surprise, I cranked out four paintings that day!  It was almost like I was painting 5x7 cards that blew up into 10x14 size!  In other words, I can paint small, so why not paint large?  Perhaps the wine gave me the right attitude to just totally enjoy myself and to see what would happen.  No internal negative voices were in my head other than "you go girl!"  I used a size 12 round brush for all four paintings and I got carried away with splattering nice big fat splatters that (the next day) I noticed ended up on my walls, my Ott light, and even on another painting hanging on the wall!  Oops!

So here's my version of happy hour wine painting!
P.S.  Any wine will work LOL!!!

I can't decide if this single flower is done or if it needs splatter.  Think I'll leave it as is.

Wonderig how I got those wild edges to the flowers, especially the single one???  I'll tell you in a future e-news!  I want to play with the technique a few more times before the reveal.

A Special Retirement Card

When my sister retired last January, I was in Florida and I knew I'd see her in March to celebrate.  She loves the beach as much as I do and this card says a lot about her newly retired life!

Have a pleasant week!

XOXO
