WE HAVE PITCHES

All of our Cuala pitches have been declared playable bar one at Thomastown and what seems like a continual false start to the season can get underway at last.

Just the 47 games involving our teams across the city over Saturday and Sunday.

Here is a taste of what we have to look forward to.

MARTHA IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Our very own Martha Byrne was one of the Dublin stars in a photoshoot and launch of a new sponsorship announced with Kinetica and Dublin GAA during the week.

Footballers On Top

From AFL 1 to 9 it was a winning weekend for our adult footballers with wins against Thomas Davis, Garda, St Maurs and Clann Mhuire by an aggregate 9-36 to 2-23.

That's the way to get the season up and running.

CLARE BOUND

The U14 boys went to Clare last weekend for an overnight trip. Played Inagh Kilnamona (Clare champions) and Ennistymon on the Sunday morning and then supported the Dubs in Cusack Park. Our hosts, Inagh Kilnamona, were thrilled to be presented with a hurley signed by our senior hurlers.

Special thanks to all our senior hurlers and particularly Cian Waldron and Niall Carty who recently helped launch the U14 boys 2020 hurling season in the club house. Also a very special mention to Kevin Kirwan and Ruairí Sheanon who have taken some training sessions with the boys.

There was also a trip from the younger lads as well making friends in the Banner.

Easter Camps

The ever-popular Cuala Easter Camps are open for bookings.  They will be hurling and football each week and promise to be plenty of fun.

They will run 10 am to 2 pm each day from 6th to 9th April and then 14th to 17th.

YOUNG LEADERS

The Cuala Young Leaders Dermot Earley Programme is well underway with over 24 club members having completed both Module 1 and 2 of the programme to date.

The modules of the programme have focused on growing individual and community leadership with their latest programme work involving researching and presenting action plans for topics which the group covered believe are indicative of today’s GAA social needs; Topics which were researched included: Loneliness in the GAA; Vicarious Parenting; Mental Strength and Wellbeing; Protein Use in the GAA; Culture and Diversity in the GAA and What the GAA means for Young Players Today.

Their recent findings were presented and communicated to a wide audience on Friday 28th February which included both Commandant Dermot Earley, and Captain Phelim O’ Carroll.

All participants are now actively engaged in planning and implementing community based programmes for Cuala GAA which will see our future Cuala leaders graduate from the National University of Galway in October 2020.

CORONA CAUTION

DUBLIN GAA Juvenile section sent around a note this week asking lads to avoid handshakes at matches.  Applaud your opponents by all means but just a little precaution

ADULT HURLING SECTION QUIZ NIGHT

The Adult Hurling Section Quiz Night. took place last night in the Club Bar in Dalkey.  There was a lack of social media boasting so we don't know who won or what the silliest answers were but we are on the case if anyone has any information...

SOCIAL HURLING

The Cuala Social Hurlers are back and flying.  All levels are welcome and there will be training on Thursday nights as well as the occasional matches in time.  The lads who only started last year are showing real promise according to some of the more experienced crew.

GAELIC 4 MOTHERS AND OTHERS

Wednesday nights in the Halla.  Lots of craic and chat and a great way to get fit, get to meet new friends and show your sons and daughters that Mum's can play too.
