Celebration of Womxn & Excellence in CBEE - Snacks & Facts

March 9, 3 to 5 p.m., Johnson 220
Join CBEE Faculty, Staff and Students & COE's Center for Diversity & Inclusion on March 9th to celebrate womxn's achievements in engineering and science as part of Womxn's HERstory Month! We'll have free snacks, DIY trail-mix, and caffeine! Come build your own trail-mix-to-go and socialize with CBEE faculty and staff.

Corvallis library talk on Hubble Telescope

March 9, 6:30 p.m., 645 NW Monroe
Tom Styczynski, a retired Lockheed Martin engineer, will talk about his work on the Hubble Space Telescope.
The OSU Astronomy Club Rick and Morty rooftop viewing
March 9, 7 to 9 p.m., Weniger Hall
There will be FREE pizza and, if the night sky is clear, there will be observations taking place. It will be chilly, so bundle up, or bring $20 to purchase an Astronomy Club sweatshirt! Any questions can be directed to the Facebook page or by contacting the Astronomy Club at osu.astronomy.club@gmail.com

Center for Diversity & Inclusion Bytes of Affirmation

March 11, 1 to 3 p.m., Johnson 220
Come by the Center for Diversity and Inclusion to grab some free snacks, tea, and coffee in celebration of Womxn’s HERstory Month. There will be a “positive affirmations station” so we can all encourage each other while we power through Week 10!

Industry Tour at Genentech in Hillsboro

March 23, 1 to 4 p.m. (Register by March 10)

5 Under 5 Panel

April 7, 5:30 to 7 p.m., CH2M HILL Alumni Center
In this interactive panel moderated by our Student Alumni Ambassadors, you'll learn about the early career paths of others in your discipline, find support for your day to day college life, and as you transition from education to industry. This event is free and includes light refreshments. Open to ALL engineering students! For more information and to RSVP visit here!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

 Julie A. Keil Women in Hydro Scholarship Fund 
An education scholarship program for women enrolled in an accredited college or university and majoring in a discipline relevant to entering the hydropower industry. The scholarship will be based on merit and financial need.
Grants to women who plan to enter the hydropower industry to assist in expenses to attend industry events.

The College of Engineering (COE) invites all engineering graduate students to submit applications for the Fast Pitch 2020 competition.

Fast Pitch will take place May 15, 2020, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., as part of the 2020 Engineering Expo. The competition will feature twelve selected engineering graduate students pitching their research in three-minutes or less to a live audience and a panel of faculty/industry judges. DEADLINE EXTENDED! Applications are due March 29, 2020. Click here to submit.


Free the textbook! Call for grant proposals
Proposal deadline: March 15
Assistance and funding to adapt, adopt, or author an open textbook is now available through OSU’s Open Educational Resources Unit. An open textbook is a textbook licensed under an open copyright license and made available online to be freely used by students, faculty, and members of the public. Faculty who want to help students save money and create a quality learning resources are eligible and invited to apply. Questions? American Water Works Association Scholarships
Application deadline: March 10
These scholarships are intended for students whose major coursework may point them toward a career in the public water supply industry. Eligible academic areas include but are not limited to water supply operation/technology, civil or environmental engineering, or public administration/finance. Please contact Cory Baune, scholarship committee co-chair, with any questions.
